F1 2011 thread

+1

I have not watched a GP in over 10 years, for some odd reason I decided to watch today (probably because there was nothing else on) and I really enjoyed it.

Then I encourage you to follow the season from now on! Its been a great season thus far :)

I find it quite convenient that an STR crashed and resulted in the race stopping for a bit at the end. Played out perfectly for their sister team RBR.

Que? Sutil getting a puncture initiated the accident. Alguersuari was just another casualty...

As everbody mentioned, Adrian Sutil in a Force India - that uses Mercedes power - was the catalyst for the accident that brought out the red flag. He was forced wide and hit the wall, with the resulting impact causing a puncture. His slowed pace done nothing to help the the log-jam behind him on the tightest track on the calendar. In the first swimming pool chicane, which has a high-speed entrance, Jamie Alguersuari in the Toro Rosso was caught out by Lewis Hamilton, who had backed off to avoid Sutil's slow Force India, and ran into the back of him. Vitaly Petrov too was caught out and he proceeded to collect Alguersuari and join him in the barrier.

It was a racing incident that happened in heavy traffic.

I'm surprised by the leniency shown to Hamilton. He should have been disqualified from that race or receive a grid penalty for the next round. Punting Maldonado out was uncalled for and that deprived Williams, who are in a desperate situation, from securing a double points finish. I thought the fact that he had already been penalised for trying to drive through Massa would have been grounds for a more serious form of punishment.

^^^Couldn't have said it better myself^^^

Montreal is going to be interesting with 2 DRS zones. I hope the McLarens can provide a better challenge this round even though I'm the biggest vettel fan. Hate to see someone run off with the championship so early in the season.

I love Hamilton's attacking - much rather watch someone try and fail than not try for fear of failing. Reminds me of the Senna / Prost days without the fistycuffs lol.

Ooh yes! I totally agree with you. He really entertained us during the 2nd last race... Was a bit worried on Sunday that he's bordering reckless? Nonetheless, good fun.

What I cant fathom are fans who complain about lack of action then complain about someone who takes a few chances. F1 has become so sterile and needs a little more action. Let's face it, the real race doesn't happen out front.
