F1 2011 thread

No for sure i fully agree, he should have started them in the pitlane then.

In all honesty though if i was a f1 driver in vettel webber's position and they told me there was this problem and this or that may happen i would say let me drive FFS, if shyte goes wrong well then so be it.

So sure i may then say there was a safety issue with the tyres but we took a chance and it paid off :D. I would not moan about it though if it was my choice to take the chance.

Just to let you guys know, Ive got the F1 streaming very nicely now. I went over to StrongVPN from tunnelbear - much faster. I opted for their 4 city deal at $55 per annum which gives me US, Netherlands and UK VPN and allows me to stream BBC Iplayer in HD without having to wait for buffers intermittently on my 4Mbps uncapped Mweb account. So I can now watch the F1 on BBC at leisure - live or after the race - my choice. Works really really well!

Hmmm interesting, do they cover other sport as well, lemme go check this out, 55 dollars a year compared to 6k. Sounds awesome.

Well my point is that Newey cried wolf and is just trying to get the tyre people to give him better rubber so he can walk the rest of the season. I suspect Pirelli has been tasked by the FIA to help narrow the gap - as all prior tyre manufacturers had to, Newey pushed the envelope then whinged about safety to get his way - that's how I see it. Pirelli certainly took a dim view of his complaints seeing he was the one exceeding recommendations.

From next year BBC will only air half the races live. The other half will be broadcast after the race. Sky will be the new broadcaster.

Which is where SpeedTV come in. SpeedTV has a Boxee app plugin. So Boxee + SpeedTV + StrongVPN = F1 every race.

Anyone watching practice at Monza? Where are the Lesmos????
Double right but the second really doesn't look like Lesmo Two... Maybe I'm just going mad in my old age.

EDIT: Yep... Mad. Thank God for a full lap from the onboard camera on Vettel's car. Track camera set closer to the exit of Lesmo Two for the long shot down to the Ascari chicane. Also, great shots of the banking of the old track looking back up from Ascari.... That thing is steep! Those boys from the 50s and 60s must have been seriously brave driving through that.

The rookie makes another mistake under pressure while the master qualifier just blazes his old time.

What an absolute legend, poor old ham just cannot shake the rookie mistakes, pressure got to him.

Haha Killa, Vettel also made a mistake on his first set of tires :D Did anyone see that power slide from Vettel? :O

Edit: Was an intense quily was sitting on the edge of my seat

Yea but the most important lap is one you set last, that is where it really matters so rather have a bad lap when you can, no point crumbling under the pressure when you really need to hit the mark and vettel always delivers under pressure. He is human so mistakes are likely but the amount of possible pole's hamilton chucks away because he cannot hack it is scary. Good car but it just needs a driver with more composure :D. Button we know sucks at quali so i never expect much from him but race day he should do much better where as the ham will crash into someone as usual.

Why didn't webber take a new engine?

The ham just crumbles and looks like a first year rookie :D.

True, Vettel could have saved a set of tires if he didn't make that mistake though, well he didn't even need to go out again. Give the hamster a break man :P I'm glad for Vettel and Red-Bull. He just keeps showing people that it's not just the car.
Just hope Hamilton doesn't crash into Vettel ;)

Dunno about Webber, maybe Red-Bull was afraid he'd out qualify Vettel?

Shame poor old ferrari they have to tow alonso along to get a good lap time , i really wish ferrari would give alonso a better car because given a decent car he would be right up there with vettel every race. I doubt vettel would stomp on alonso like he is stomping on hamilton if alonso had a pole car like hamilton.

I was wondering why teams didn't use the other cars for tow, and that question was answered. Ferrari is looking bad, your right killa, think it's just karma for the way the treat Massa :D I don't mind team orders just don't completely destroy a driver in the process.

And rubens, maybe they have some issues with Brazilians :D

Interesting! :)

If one of the McLarens or any any other car for that matter gets into the 1sec DRS zone Vettel is in trouble.

22 21 Jarno Trulli 331.8
23 20 Heikki Kovalainen 331.8
24 1 Sebastian Vettel 327.7

Worst top line speed of all the other cars. 5 kph of topline speed + another 5 for DRS and with long straights the McLarens have a good chance.... Wonder why they did it, to qualify better or for better race pace?

erm. That's at the speed trap. One point on the circuit...

Worst top line speed but fastest on the track in a full lap, only hamilton can stop him tomorrow if he gets to the front but then again the redbulls always look good in quali because vettel is just a quali genius but race day they look fairly ordinary.

Should be a cracker though.
