F1 2012 thread

Tjoon, I think you're right bru, I can't quite put my finger on it, but he has that coloured look about him.

LMAO

firstly lol at the hamilton pic!

just on a note of the racism that was pointed out -

@UWS - Im not sure if you ever watched the 2010 documentary based on Senna? If you look in that documentary there is a point where he complains about the politics in formula 1. I highly doubt everyone is racist towards hamilton, he is probably just not the right nationality which unfortunately plagues more than just formula 1. Tha motogp paddock is the exact same, if you are not spanish or world champion then you dont get the same parts as the others, I dont follow formula 1 extensively as its not as fun as alot of other types of racing so im not sure what the favoured nationality is at this point and im not even sure who all the officials are anymore.

Formula1 has been wrecked by politics and team tactics that i dont really care who wins anymore. maybe in recent years it is not as bad as earlier years cos i havent followed in a while but i highly doubt its based on a racial aspect. I for one dont like hamilton the same way i dont like michael shmucker and its not cos he is black, i just dont like the way he drives and the way he looks in a car. Any driver making it to formula 1 though is an excellent driver and i could never take that away from them. Just my opinion

I agree with the racism shown towards Lewis. I'm just not sure why. (sarcasm)He's poor overall performance last year was not a sign of a driver being under pressure from his team mate but obvious racism. It has to be that since admitting a non-white person can underperform due to any other reason except racism is unheard of.

I think you undermine black people in general, vinodh and others, when you suggest that their performance depends on the attitude of the people around them. Celebs are subject to abuse the world over, race, religion, opinion, etc etc. It's the nature of being in the spotlight. Certainly Lewis had to put up with racial abuse in Spain, but I think he'd love nothing more than to slap anyone who told him he underperforms because some people have issues with his race (which I have no doubt sure some do, just as some have issues with Michael Schumacher being German). The world is and always will be full of prejudice, but I think Lewis himself doesn't blame race for his issues, unless we're talking about the ability to race. If anything, he blames the car from time to time (probably rightly so too). If you ask me, I'd say Ron Dennis loves the guy and his relationship with Ron is partly responsible for his success... hardly a crutch based on his race.

Very rarely does he blame himself and that is where the problem comes in, it's always the car. He is under major pressure from button again this season and i recall the vettel haters saying winning from the front is easy yet hamilton has two poles and zero wins.

Obviously it isn't that easy to win from pole. Hamilton needs to look within himself and correct the issues instead of blaming car, weather and blah blah. I can already see this season he is going to struggle. Absolute one lap awesomeness with no race pace. Button however is now qualifying well which should see him win more races. I would be very concerned about my race pace if i was hamilton. Mclaren better hope redbull don't improve anytime soon because they have the race pace but no quali pace so if they get that one lap time sorted vettel will get poles and win from pole

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton will be given a five-place grid penalty for the Chinese Grand Prix after the team changed his gearbox.

So no pole, maybe he will win now because he cannot do it from pole :D. This leaves pole wide open though.

Shame, will be interesting to see how he performs in Red Bull territory though.

Race 1 - Underfueled.
Race 2 - Pit stops and pathetic strategy
Race 3 - gearbox.

Hope Bahrain is better (if it happens)

Be interesting to see if Mercedes performs better in the race this time. They certainly have fast cars over short distances.

Nope they don't, they have a good quali car because the wing can open the entire time but come race day it is limited to 1 or 2 straights meaning they have no race pace. It's a pity they never worked harder on the car having good pace during races, sadly they seemed to concentrate on having a good open wing thingiemabob :D

I think there lack of race pace is more a function of them not being able to get the tyres in the correct operating windows hence high degradation.

Nope the rear wing can open and close through-out the quali, during the race they do not have that feature available for the entire lap which means they lose performance and their quali times are much better than their race time. they have the best and most effective rear wing system from what i have read but it is only really useful in quali.

As for the tyres you may be correct but their poor race pace is actually a true reflection of the car and if they could only use the rear wing in the designated area's like the races in quali they would struggle to get into the top 10 shoot out.

I'm not sure Killa, I seriously believe their problem is the car can't handle the weight of the race fuel load, that car is fast, wing or not.

It isn't

That's the Shanghai circuit with sectors 1, 2 and 3 in yellow, red and blue respectively. Schumacher's sector times compared to Hamilton's were 2 tenths slower in the first, equal in the second (probably a very solid lap for Michael) and 4 tenths faster in the last. Note the looooooooooooong back straight.

The Merc's fast... in a straight line... with DRS open.

Yup when that rear wing can work they will fly, when it gets limited they lose big performance.

What part of the track will they allow the rear wing? The big straights more than likely but then the merc must be within over taking distance to deploy. Sadly the merc will always be good in quali and fail in the race.

No idea why they would develop and work so hard on a system that cannot get them race wins.
