Red Bull ordered to change illegal brake ducts

Red Bull has apparently been ordered to change the design of its brake cooling ducts after the FIA found them to contravene the technical regulations.

The news comes just days after the outfit was forced to change its floor design which featured two small holes ahead of the front wheels, which the governing body also agreed were against the regulations.

Oh Red Bull.. doing what they do best.. cheating :D

Red Bull Racing has been forced to make modifications to the wheel hub of its car after suggestions it was gaining an aerodynamic advantage from its clever design.

Since the start of the season, the central area of the front wheel hubs on the RB8 has featured holes that channel hot air from the brake ducts to the outside of the wheel.

Following a close examination of the design by the FIA at the Canadian Grand Prix, however, AUTOSPORT understands that it was decided that the design was actually providing more than just a cooling effect and was helping the aerodynamic performance of the car.

Sources suggest that channelling air to the outside of the wheel, the design can energise the flow over the front wing.

Under article 3.15 of the Formula 1 Technical Regulations, teams are told that "any specific part of the car influencing its aerodynamic performance" must be "rigidly secured to the entirely sprung part of the car" and must remain "immobile in relation to the sprung part of the car."

So ros they have changed the wing and the ducts and still vettel pounds hamilton into the ground with a car that is as good as hamiltons. What now i wonder, how did they cheat this time?

Sadly they keep trying to nail redbull but redbull have the best driver in their car. Although i think alonso could be as good as vettel. No matter what they do to redbull they cannot stop them as long as vettel is driving the car.

Ahh now the Red Bull fans come out of hiding finally :D RB and Ferrari can say thank you to Macca for the working exhaust designs :)

Should a good race... will be fun watching Vettel crash into the WoC :) Seems Lewi's car has finally been set for race-pace and not just for Qually. P2 isn't bad for today, i'm happy with it after the frightening arrival of the pace of the Ferraris/Macca exhaust.

Drive of the day? De la Rosa.

Lights to flag finger boy! Although I'm still not happy. Today was much like Barhain, and looked what happened after that. Just hope he can keep it up. Alonso had a chance at second but made a mistake. Solid lap from Hamilton. Top 3 drivers 1-2-3

I'm going to be watching Alonso vs Hamilton. I think Alonso will do it given Ferrari's slick pit crew and Alonso being able to match Hamilton around the track - perhaps a small edge on tyre management. Vettel will walk the race from pole so I'm not expecting fireworks out front.

Will be interesting to see Buttons strategy play out.

I love this circuit, up there with Spa IMO.

+1 - I hope it works for him. My honest opinion though, is that this race is going to be about a bunch of people trying to conserve tyres and not much racing, let's hope I'm wrong.

Buttons strat will fail hard. By the time his strat works he will be a pitstop behind. He never starts well either, so expect him to go into the first corner well below his starting place.

Button is failing so hard at the moment. Alonso will jump hamilton for sure, that ferrari is a bullet off the line. The only person who can stop vettel today will be alonso but pole to a win should the way unless he has a poor start or lands in the wall.

A cooler track and Hammy would've had pole.

Not looking forward to the start, can just see Alonso moving into 2nd place right off the line.

I'm going to hope for rain :D

I also wouldn't mind rain cause that would mean a win for the Scuderia! :p
