F1 2012 thread

Not so sure about Hamilton not racing fairly. Kimi passed him with no incident. Grosjean as well. If Hamilton was such a moron, then those two driver would have been put in the wall. Maldonado should have shown restraint. He obviously was seeing some "red mist" and decided to try a stupid move when he could have easily passed Hamilton later in the lap. The Williams team would have advised Maldonado that Hamilton's tyres were shot and was a sitting duck.Regardless of Hamilton's 2011 behavior, Maldonado was clearly suffering from Murvey: "a sudden rush of shlt to the brain!!"
True, that was how Hamilton raced for most of this year, Grosjean passed him in that same spot and Hamilton left him more than enough space, yet he didn't do if for Maldonado.

Hamilton always had the line and was ahead when Maldono went off the track. That was Maldono pushing it more than he could under the circumstances. If his car was ahead, he would have been able to make it stick without going off the track.

Vid

They enter the corner side by side, Ham winning on some late braking, still Mal next to him, then Ham crowds Mal of the track, Mal gets 2 wheels back on the track, Ham taking the racing line cuts into Mal. From the onboard it looks both ways, from the top view it looks far worse for Mal

Edit: Note how Lewis's front wing is on the white line before the left turn, that's not even the normal racing line

Maldonado was faster than Lewis, Lewis tried to run Maldonado off the track, Lewis knew his tyres were going, why involve himself in a track position duel with another driver with nothing to lose?

Amateur driving from Lewis in the penultimate lap!

The only thing left for Hamilton to do, I hope it doesn't get slid under the latest controversy, but he REALLY needs a new pit crew.

It's quite clear from that vid at 6 seconds in that Maldono comes from off track to hit Hamilton.

He was defending his position and a lot of points. I'm sure he didn't expect a rookie to come over the curb and drive straight into him. Maldonaldo was wrong and I hope he gets a position penalty or something.

All Lewis did was throw away his own race, big deal if Maldonado gets a penalty, Lewis lost a **** load of points. Maldonado would have passed Lewis in one of the next 40 corners left in the race.

+1
It doesn't matter how much faster the guy behind you is, he has to take the position from you. You don't move over unless you're being lapped or you're a wuss lol.

There is no argument who was ahead and who was at fault. Maldono was still off the track.

A great race! Most exciting race at Valencia ever :D:D

I think had Grosjean not had a technical issue, he'd have eaten Alonso! But Yay for Lotus. So glad Vettel didn't win! I like the guy but we don't need domination in the season just yet! That's just essential in the last 3 races!

I think you mean amateur racing from Maldono. You may be happy to support a wuss who moves over for someone quicker than them, I love the way Lewis fought for that place and didn't give it away. Nothing amateur about that!

Don't you just love the look of the new log? What I think is really cool is Alonso is ahead, while Ferrari are not the fastest car (yet).

Lewis Hamilton said he had no qualms about trying to fend off Pastor Maldonado as his tyres fading at the end of the European Grand Prix - even though the battle culminated in a collision that left the McLaren in the barriers.

Hamilton was holding second behind Fernando Alonso's Ferrari before running out of tyre grip.

Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen overtook him, and Williams's Maldonado was trying to do likewise when he hit the McLaren on the penultimate lap.

"My tyres were gone," said Hamilton. "I don't know where I would have finished. Over the last lap or so, my tyres just went - it was almost like I had flat tyres at the back."

But asked whether he felt in retrospect he should have let Maldonado go, Hamilton replied: "You never let people past, you've got to race for every position you can get."
That's the Hamilton I love to support! F1 needs more real racing, if it's too much to support a racer, watch chess.

Schumi might lose his podium.

Michael Schumacher’s Valencia podium finish is under threat, having been called to see the stewards following Sunday afternoon’s highly dramatic European Grand Prix.

Schumacher's podium is his first since returning to F1
The Mercedes driver passed numerous rivals as he charged through the field following his second pit-stop; having just overhauled Nico Hülkenberg, the seven-time World Champion seized third spot when Lewis Hamilton and Pastor Maldonado collided on Lap 55.

Both Schumacher and a representative of Mercedes will talk to the stewards – including ex driver Mika Salo – at 5:20pm local time (BST +1) for ‘failing to slow for yellow flags’ when using DRS.

That's what I dont understand, points in a tight season is gold, the last thing you want is a DNF, pride and those earrings he wears are his downfall. :p

Well if looking at points turns you on then by all means. I don't understand that personally. I say don't compromise when it comes to fighting for position on the track - that turns me on.
