F1 2012 thread

In all honesty, Lewis repaid whatever debt he may have owed to Mclaren in 2007 when he was runner up in his debut season and setting the record for the youngest to do so, then winning the championship in 2008. Add to that he has been near the sharp end since then if he had better team mates, Mclaren would have had a couple team titles as well along the way. He owes the team nothing and management made the mistake of thinking he does and wanted him to take a pay cut of all things!?!? Good on him for moving

As a Mclaren fan, I'm very dissapointed to see him go, however I'm looking forward to Perez and seeing what he can do with a quick car and not one just good with tyres.

Agree

I don't know what Ferrari are going to do with their #2 car now. Massa is klaar and unless they feel finishing 3rd in the constructor's championship is okay so long as they win the driver's championship, they need a better #2 driver.

Good on mclaren for letting him go if he was being a little bitch and wanting more money.

They have perez, he will pump hamilton :D so it's chilled.

So... how is your relationship with your boss? Just trying to put it into context.

Even if Perez get's pwned by Hamilton next year, it wouldn't affect your outlook. :)

They missed out on perez, there is talk of michael signing with them or sauber but it's more talk for now.

massa to sauber, michael to ferrari hmmm.

Perez won't get pwned by hamilton, hamilton can barely keep up with button haha and everyone including myself thought he would pump button hard but that hasn't been the case.

Wasn't there at one stage rumours that Ferrari had flirty eyes for Paul Di Resta.

I think Michael is going to go out like Rubens. The only way Massa will still be in f1 next year is if he drivers for Ferrari. His not good enough and has stated that he wont go to lower teams.

That seems very possible. Maybe more so Massa to Sauber.

I'd like to see Michael have one last, last, last hurrah in a car that gives him a better chance of winning because I think he can still win race or two in a decent car.

He should never have retired when he did though. He'd easily have been able to contend for both the 2007 (won by Raikkonen) & 2008 (just missed by Massa) championships. I'd have raced until I won 100 GPs.

If anything I would have thought di Resta (won a DTM title with Mercedes) would have gone to either of Mercedes or McLaren and Sergio Perez (Ferrari Driver Academy product) would have replaced Massa at Ferrari.

Yea di resta for me was a sure thing if a mclaren or merc seat opened.

Well the manager of michael has ruled nothing out yet and i cannot honestly see how ferrari could retain the services of massa. He has been poor and has never shown a glimmer of the days when he ran hamilton to the wire.

Cannot win a world title with one driver scoring the bulk of your points. I would also like to see michael have one last shot at the title.

Sauber chief executive Monisha Kaltenborn yesterday said that the Swiss outfit were interested in signing German Michael Schumacher when his contract with Mercedes expires in 2013.

Schumacher, 43, is reportedly still undecided about his future after learning that he will be replaced by Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes.

Kaltenborn told the sportsdaily Bild: “Michael has until now been with just big stables which we can’t compare ourselves to”. Team principal Peter Sauber has already said that he would “immediately” sign Schumacher if he were available.

.

I Would have loved to see Kimi back at Mclaren again in place of Hamilton.
I think its like David Coulthard said. You grow up at home in luxury, you know there is food in the fridge etc. But you know yourself when the time comes, you get out of the house to become a man. I do wish him well, But Mclaren all the way next year.

I hear you re michael but let's face it, we probably won't see another period where a team spends as much on the WC as Ferrari did when Michael raced for them. Even if you have the money, you can no longer spend it in obscene chunks. That rule alone has humbled McLaren and Ferrari.

Schummi has announced his retirement today, he is out at the end of the 2012 season.

Michael was just the best at the time, go check his career. It isn't all ferrari.

Good race, some heroic drives by Massa and Kobayashi.

Vettel was in a league of his own. The championship will be decided by who finishes races from now on. Its going to be nail-biting.

Perhaps Alonso should start from the back of the pack from now on. He's like a driving target at the start of races these days...:D

Of course you still have Ross Brawn / Rory Byrne in the picture. People forget that. There was way more to Michael's career than Michael.

Not the Brawn/Byrne straw again. . .

Easy way to solves this; Go look at what JJ Lehto, Jos Verstappen, Johnny Herbert, Eddie Irvine and Rubens Barrichello done in Brawn/Byrne cars and get back to us.

Adrian Newey is a genius, no? Why is Vettel on course to win his third successive driver's world championship in a Newey car and Webber has yet to win one? Some drivers are better than others. MUCH better.

Staggy it's pointless bro :D. They will never grasp it.

Anyways new f1 weekend inbound, hells yea!!!!!!!!!

Vettel to take pole and win it, he is on form. Hopefully alonso can make it past lap 1. No point the championships being decided in the next two races. Come alonso!!!!!!!!!! pull your shyte together and stop driving for points, get aggressive bro.
