F1 2012 thread

Only reason Vettel has won 2 world championships is because he has the best car.

Although you need a good car to win championships, this is just a silly statement......same can be said then for half of schumacher's career, same with button in 2009. The cars can not drive themselfs, also then you say webber is an absolute crap driver. :p

if the track is wet when qualifying starts Alonso will take pole. this i know

Hope so, he needs to qualify higher than he does, good race car, crap quali car. Perhaps they need to setup for the quali and not the race, works for redbull mostly.

The Bull is both a good quali and race car. Did you hear the flex wing discussion during practice yesterday? Sounds like two years later they are going to try ro tackle it properly. I think only failure will stop Vettel from winning. Ferrari are just not up to it, Alonso did all he could.

tonight y'all will witness that Fernando is the best and u will forget about the rest. he is starting 8th but after the first corner he will be 5th and and since Ferrari has a superior straight line speed he is going to be on the podium.

Podium is not enough to win unfortunately. Its going to take Redbull failure now :(

Really cannot wait for this race. This first corner should be very exciting. I've had a lot of fun educating Americans on 4chan about F1 recently.

I'm having a guess that Hulkenburg will do pretty well today.. just a guess.

As for the cars on the left side of the grid, will be interesting to see how they get off the line.. if they do at all. I' hoping Vettel doesn't take the championship today.. rather in Brazil.

Alonso might know something we don't... Singapore of a couple of years ago comes to mind :p

Fernando Alonso is convinced he will reduce the gap to Sebastian Vettel in the championship in Sunday's United States Grand Prix despite starting seven places behind the German.

Vettel secured his sixth pole position of the year at Austin on Saturday as his only title rival struggled for pace and finished down in ninth position.

Alonso will start from eighth thanks to a penalty for Lotus's Romain Grosjean.

The Ferrari driver, who was outqualified by team-mate Felipe Massa for only the second time this year, said his position was no surprise to him.

"Yes, we expected it," Alonso said. "We knew it was going to be complicated. We started seventh in Abu Dhabi and eighth here, so more or less the positions have been the same.

"As always, the race is tomorrow. I still think that tomorrow we are going to reduce the gap to Sebastian, which is what counts.

"He starts from pole and he has a very strong pace, but the race will be long and let's see if we can seize our opportunities."

...
"We are fighting to make it into Q3, so we have got here miraculously and we are going to try to hang on to hope.

"As I said, for whatever reason, I have the strange feeling that tomorrow we will reduce the gap."

:wtf:

+1 on the odd grid numbers - I think we're going to see that side veer right across the line. Anyone going offline to overtake on the opening lap is going to come short. Safety car ftw lol.

Maybe we will see some "unavoidable" accidents ......... Vettel will take this years championship (maybe not in this race)....hopefully Kimmi will have a good race again
