F1 2013 thread

LOL yea, what a way to finish a race, it's a classic. Kubica though in recent history is about the luckiest guy in f1(well not in f1 but hopefully he will be back), he was literally inches away from death. Wow he got lucky that day, i will try find video. Senna got very unlucky, hit a wall and the tire smashed him something horrible, he said he was scared to drive that day because ratzenburger had died the same weekend. He didn't actually want to race that day.

Wow Check how it never turns, must have also suffered a similar steering issue to senna.

Definitely. If Kubica was in a car from the mid '90s and back he'd have been in serious trouble. Still amazing that he was unharmed anyway as that was a violent shunt.

Very strange to crash that heavily at Monaco though. Then again it looks like the chicane at the Swimming Pool, which is pretty quick for a street track. May have been failure or he took too much from the kerb. Heidfled had a heavy knock at Monaco too back in 2000 while arriving at the Rascasse.

Side note: The Prost AP03 was a beautiful car but an absolute dog in terms of performance. Based on looks and desire, Jean Alesi in a Prost AP03 should have walked 2000. :p

Jacques Villeneuve and Ralf Schumacher had a huge crash a Melbourne in 2001. A marshall was killed by flying debris.

YOH that was a shunt... what happened to the car ahead that it stopped so suddenly?
Note how hard it was to keep that thing going in a straight line!

His closing speed was underestimated by him, you can how he gains and he didn't go right or left he. looked like he wasn't sure and his closing speed caught him.

Vettel or kimi to win, not sure how the ferraris will go though. Doubt mercedes have a chance. Should be an easy pole for vettel, this is track the redbull thrives on, well when vettel drives it i dunno mark webber doesn't really thrive like vettel does. Perhaps redbull is so good because of vettel, hopefully he moves to ferrari in 2014 so we can find out.

Here we go boys!

A McLaren to be on the podium. Book it.

If mclaren make the top 10 at the moment i think they celebrate :D. Perez finishing 6th was the most celebrated result in mclaren this season :p. A podium hmmmmmmmm, if they finish in the top 6 it will be a job well done. Perez has now been given license to race so hopefully he meets button again at some point. Show those other ****ers that f1 is about racing and not team orders. It would be epic to see them fighting each other for the win actually. Better than the snore fest we would see after redbull and some other teams stop racing after the last pit stop.

McLaren have a huge upgrades package arriving for the Spanish GP in which they hope will hope them to once again content at the top. We'll see if it works.

Unless perez really is the world champion i think he is i somehow don't think button has what it takes to really get the most out his car. he never really has had that ability to drive past the cars performance in my opinion. hamilton, vettel, alonso they can all drive cars that are perhaps not the best and make them the best. So i hope you are right and perez is mixing it with the big boys.

The thing button seems to have going for him is the ability to handle changeable conditions and look after his tyres. Other than that agreed 100 percent. Perez hasn't bowled me over this year either.

Well he started in a new team and i think he scared to drive the way he does, whitemarsh told him in the last gp. Go and drive the damn car lad. He basically has the freedom now to push button and he has the confidence that he isn't playing second fiddle to button either and he knows there are no team orders so the perez i think will is a super star will shine given a good enough car.

Not looking good for McLaren so far. Their times in all 3 practice sessions seem to indicate that the upgrades they brought to Spain did not make a significant improvement. However, Ferrari are looking very, very good. Qualifying should be close between Ferrari, Lotus and Red Bull. Not sure about Mercedes but I hope Hamilton and Rosberg can be up there in the top 6/8.

Mercedes P1 and P2. Now to see if they have good race pace.

Shocked, wow well done guys. So happy because i was thinking merc would not be strong this season, now we see what happens tomorrow, i really hope merc can be competitive all season.

That was terrible. A procession is one thing, but today with the tires....
