F1 2013 thread

Well, after the second red flag I got tired of that procession and stopped watching. I know Monaco is never going to be a race of highlights, but that was as drab as F1 could probably get.

Think u mean the second safety car. Race was only stopped once. But ye, it was processional no doubt.

Just saw this video from Monaco 2005, absolutely brilliant! We don't see stuff like this anymore.

Grosjean should be handed the key to the door out of F1...

Seb:
Usually you expect two silver arrows in front of you and there were two buses today going for a cruise - at least in the first couple of laps.
..lol

Perez vs Kimi

Perez:
I’d had a great race - I’d been overtaking cars through the afternoon - but in my opinion Kimi didn’t leave me enough room when I tried to pass him as we exited the tunnel, and as a result I got squeezed into the wall on the entry to the Harbour Chicane.

Kimi:
He hit me from behind and that’s about all there is to it. If he thinks it’s my fault that he came into the corner too fast then he obviously has no idea what he’s talking about.

It’s not the first time he’s hit someone in the race; he seems to expect people to be always looking at what he might do, then move over or go straight on if he comes into the corner too quick and isn’t going to make it without running into someone.

Because of one stupid move from Sergio we’ve lost a lot of points to Sebastian [Vettel] in the championship and you can’t afford to lose ground like that.

lol .. thats the most Ive heard Kimi say this year ....

Well perez was about the only guy trying. Kimi did squeeze him but he should not have pushed his luck, racing incident.

Boring snore fest, all that i am happy to have watched is hamilton struggling to match his team mate in quali, during the race etc and it's about time people recognized the quality of rosberg. Hamilton was suppose to go there to help the team but it seems hamilton going there has helped nio get a better car. Nico should have had two podiums this season not one. At some point they will need to understand nico and hamilton are as good as each other and i tend to believe nico is better actually.

I hate this race though, it's a hollywood race and nothing more than a snore fest.

From my understanding Monaco is all about the glitz and glamour and very very few places to overtake and then to top it off you have to look after your tyres and can't race full out.

Coulthard said it best yesterday "Back in the day drivers pushed the limit and raced there cars, now they have to be cautious and look after tyres and be about 3-4seconds off the race pace" Not exact words, but you get the jist

Official statement from the FIA in reaction to the recent Pirelli/Mercedes-AMG test:

At the beginning of May, the FIA was asked by Pirelli if it was possible for it to carry out some tyre development testing with a team, using a current car. Within the contract Pirelli has with the FIA as single supplier, there is provision for them to carry out up to 1000km of testing with any team - provided every team is offered the opportunity to do so.

Pirelli and Mercedes-AMG were advised by the FIA that such a development test could be possible if carried out by Pirelli, as opposed to the team that would provide the car and driver, and that such tests would be conditional upon every team being given the same opportunity to test in order to ensure full sporting equity.

Following this communication, the FIA received no further information about a possible test from Pirelli or from Mercedes-AMG. Furthermore, the FIA received no confirmation that all teams had been given an opportunity to take part in this test.

In addition, with regard to the application of the sport's rules, including principles of sporting equity, it should be remembered that the International Sporting Code provides that on the basis of a report of the stewards of the meeting, or on its own initiative, the prosecuting body of the FIA may bring a matter before the International Tribunal.

The Tribunal may decide to inflict penalties that would supercede any penalty the stewards of the meeting may have issued. Such procedure would be followed in pursuance of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules.

Now i wonder how many teams were asked? I mean surely most of the team would want in on the action so it seems a bit dodge that mercedes were the only one that would want to test their car.

Redbull are known for their development and designs, they would have loved the opportunity to study the tires further i am sure as would many of the teams. Anyways we will wait and see. No idea if they are guilt of being opportunists or guilty of breaking rules :D

was a very controlled GP

nico knew people were going to find it hard to overtake

but perez is the biggest idiot alive

Why? Did you prefer that round and round racing over someone trying to actually do something else? Kimi did squeeze him so kimi isn't innocent. Kimi could have gone defensive a lot sooner rather slowly shut the door.

F1 related.... Tom cruise was handed a go at the 2010 RB... After watching both Jeremy Clarkson & the Hamster fail miserably at attempting to give F1 cars a go, Tom impressed me a bit... Even though I reckon he is a prat...

That's no excuse to go for a gap that wasn't even there. He gets paid to behave professionally, not like a Joburg taxi driver.

And F1 can be processional sometimes - that's what makes overtaking special on tracks like these. DRS has taken out all of the fun and challenge in battles on more open circuits.

Never had a chance to watch the race:(, but I am hoping it was as good one.
