F1 2013 thread

The redbull is miles ahead but the car i don't think it miles ahead. The car plus driver make it miles ahead.

Much like hamilton made the mclaren look good vettel makes redbull untouchable. Hamilton and vettel team mates at redbull. OMF now that would be epic. Both improve the cars they drive.

Not really, it seems like he always win but if you break it down he has had to struggle to where he is now. Last season he got lucky, alonso taken out 3 gp's in a row first corner handed him the title.

Oh right, and Webber worked for his failures :D

Don't forget that Hamilton's team mate beat Schumi in the same car last year, and look at Rosberg now... Vettel would be a lot worse off if he had Webber's luck this year. There's some good fortune thrown in too.

But seriously, I hate the fact that the race is being driven by the guys behind the pit wall - they basically tell the drivers when they can race and when they have to hold back based on the data - tyre pressures, heat, etc. etc. I don't think the average person knows just how much of the modern F1 race happens back there. Drivers are getting sick of it for sure. I'd rather have them switch the radios off and use pit boards again. They need to sack Pirelli too... tyres should NOT be the be all and end all of a race.

Pit boards, Man I haven't heard that term in a while.

Yeah, I would also vote to bringing back refueling during a race. That alone could change the outcome of races.

Pirelli is not to blame for the tyres. They are just making tyres that they are being asked to make.

I was hoping Grosjean would win but Vettel just had to spoil the party. A pity that Hamilton couldn't be in the mix. It would have been interesting to see what he would have been able to do with the Mercedes. Rosberg had good pace but the drive through for an unsafe release combined with tire damage killed his race. And as usual, Webber somehow managed to find a way to lose a race that was his to win. It was overall a good race with some good overtakes, clever strategy from some teams and a bit of brain fade by others.

sees Peter Prodromou can't leave Red Bull until end of next year before switching to McLaren....hmm

Does anyone else feel like F1 was better in the past with all the things they have since removed such as re-fueling and overt team orders? It added an extra dimension to it.

Your absolutely right some of the changes have taken the excitement away.

Absolutely, refuelling and the strategies related thereto were fantastic

Some of you folks have short term memories. When there was mid-race re-fueling everyone was complaining about lack of on-track action as all the passing was done in the pits via fuel strategy.
