The problem with f1 is give the guys tires to last and we see one mandatory pit stop and round and round racing back to the shummi days.

I say make the tires more durable and bring back refueling and two compound tires but the kicker you cannot change tires and refuel. So you need to make a minimum of two stops, tires you start then the other compound and somewhere in between refueling.

Let the drivers push those tires broken, to the max. Both compounds offer about .2 difference and both last 15-20 without a cliff. Then we can see the comedy of refueling :D. I will never forget massa thinking he could win by taking the fuel hose him to refuel during the race, why pitstop when you fill your tank when needed :p

Classic the fuel stops were, boring the one stop no fuel was. Keep drs, i don't want to go back to that 1 second barrier that does not allow over taking and yes the over taking is somewhat simulated but rather simulated than round and round and round with no over taking unless it's back a marker.

I have always had this amazing plan for rain affected races man made :D but if they have two compounds. One does about 15 laps the other about 30 but no more than .2-3 time difference and refueling would be epic. Something i have never seen a driver going down pitlane with his tire flying off while the hose is still attached :p, massa is no 1 for that :D

What team kept letting their drivers go without the wheel nut secured, happened plenty. Was it Mercedes?

Another Lotus floor deflection failure.... this time Raikkonnen
Kimi Raikkonen's Lotus Formula 1 car has failed a front floor deflection test after qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Finn had qualified in fifth place, but following post session checks by the FIA his car was found not to be in conformity with the regulations.

A statement issued by the governing body said that both Raikkonen and Nico Hulkenberg's cars had been tested, with the Lotus not passing while the Sauber complied.

It stated that the Lotus's "front floor deflected more than 5mm vertically when the load was applied vertically to it at the point which lies 100mm of car centre line on the LHS [left hand side]"

Lotus representatives have been summoned to the stewards to explain what happened, and whether or not there is an explanation for the failure such as a broken part.

At the Hungarian Grand Prix earlier this season, Romain Grosjean escaped a penalty after a similar situation when it was proved that a broken floor stay had resulted in it not passing the deflection tests.

Lotus successfully argued then that an impact with the kerbs had damaged the stay, which resulted in the test irregularity.

Kimi... Poor dude

Why he knew he would get paid when the points they made are paid out, what is the issue if he agreed to it?

He should have got out of grosjeans way, simple as that. They almost took each other out and kimis tires were finished why did he try stop the inevitable? They made the same stupid call. He should have just put fresh boots on when he felt them go off.

Why did he almost take out grosjean when he was a country mile off the pace? I would have also sworn at him. Get the flip out the way. Poor form by kimi in my opinion, he hasn't been paid all season and he is threatening to boycott the next two races? silly what difference would it make? If he agreed to being paid after the season when they cash in.

Imagine his stupid driving had ended poorly, millions lost. i recall it was 4 bar a point but i assume it's less now due to the point system changing.

He has made great effort regardless of the circumstances. But I think the enticement of a Ferrari paycheck next year was a big mistake. I think Ferrari will take at least 2 seasons with the new engines to get to RB form. By which time he will need to retire . He wasted his best F1 possible years doing WRC. The next 3 to 4 years are going to be a Vettel fest.

I'm not arguing that he had to move out of Grosjeans way. Hell, I've turned into a grosjean fan. Respect due where needed. He is really turned his career around.

I truly hope you are right about it being a Vettel fest, however do remember that 2014 brings with it many new challenges that will affect all teams. Depending on how teams interpret the rules as well as engine reliability may determine who wins at the end of the day.

Vettel, even though I dislike him, as I did Schumi, is in reality a powerhouse that in my opinion will rip shreds out of all the F1 records. 26 years old. The man is a legend already. He has another 10 years ahead of him in F1. Can you imagine. Watching his in car cam footage you can see how clean his line is. How smooth he can pull that RB around. He is that good, yes the car is fantastic. But it's fantastic with his development input.

As for engines. Renault has so much turbo experience in normal road cars when compared to others such as Mercedes (who are mostly supercharged)... I think they will lead the way again...

I must say one thing about this season, engine reliability for all the teams has been really good.

Vettel seems to love his doughnuts. But they are rather expensive. Guy is really in a class of his own right now.

Not that I know off. Guess he will be fined. How much? Only time will tell.

Apparently he is gonna be stripped of all points earned over the past 4 seasons :whistling:

Na he got away with it, good thing too because he didn't actually do anything wrong. Was off circuit, he got the car back etc.

Suprised they didn't though, the stewards have their heads so far up their asses and their hyper-inflated sense of egos with all these retarded "investigations" I thought it was a foregone conclusion...

Those engines are hardly operating near the limit thanks to the tyres. :(
Again, the race is being run by the guys behind the pitwall. How many times did you hear an engineer telling the driver to slow down cos their tyres are getting hot. Get out in front and you have way less issues without dirty / hot air from the guy ahead.

Did Ferrari sacrifice Massa for Alonso ?

Felipe Massa claimed Ferrari's tactical error cost him a top five finish in Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Brazilian, who is leaving Ferrari at the end of the year, said he was amazed when the Italian team switched him to a new set of medium compound tyres for the final 17 laps, instead of fitting soft tyres.

"We made a mistake," he said. "I didn't expect to use the medium in the last stint.

"I didn't discuss it (with the team beforehand) because for me it was clear. We were going to go on the softs. It's better, at the beginning I was the best car on the soft tyre.

"I expected to see the soft tyres on the car and I saw the other. Without this problem I would have finished easy in the top five."

He finished eighth after being passed in that final stint by three drivers including his teammate Fernando Alonso who escaped penalty for earlier running off the circuit to pass Jean-Eric Vergne's Toro Rosso.

He was not punished because he took the action to avoid an accident.

Vergne praised Alonso for his actions and said they prevented the possibility of a big crash.

"It was a racing incident and if he had not gone on the outside (of the track) like he did, we would have had a big crash," said the French driver.

"It was high speed, and what he did was right. Actually, I am really happy he did that otherwise we would have had an accident, so yes, definitely the stewards made the right decision."

Alonso said that taking off over the kerbs had triggered the automatic g-loading sensor on his car that tells drivers when an impact is hard enough to make a medical examination necessary.

"I still have all my teeth after the impact," he joked. "But my back is obviously in pain a little bit because it was a big hit."

Yea i keep hearing that redbull is so far ahead of everyone but actually vettel is so far ahead of everyone, he makes a good car the best car by a mile. Mark webber would not be world champion with the redbull 4 years in a row so this BS that the redbull is just the bes car and anyone could do well is rubbish.

You are 100% correct about vettel, he is a power house and without him redbull would not be as good as they are.
