The turbo sounds like the car is chuckling all the way down the straight:D

Even the old A1GP cars never sounded so hideous. The FIA really need to drop the rev limit or hike it a by a good few thousand rpm.

Qualifying does need a shake up. The problem with the current format is setting a hot lap with a fuel laden car tends to tear into the tires faster than when running on race pace.

In 2013 cars were not fat with fuel in quali. They fueled them for about 3/4laps. Out lap, timed lap, timed lap, in lap. Also part of the reason few drivers got penalized for not having enough fuel in their tanks for FIA samples after quali

Hamilton and Di Resta reach settlement

Anthony Hamilton and Paul di Resta have reached an out-of-court settlement to bring to an end a bitter legal dispute.

Hamilton brought the case against the Scot in July 2012 for breach of contract after being sacked as his manager when Di Resta was a driver at Force India. Also at the centre of the dispute was a €5.5 million (£4.3 million) deal with energy drinks company Go Fast, and whether money linked to Di Resta's image rights ended up in an account run by the Hamilton family.

The Telegraph reports the High Court heard how Di Resta alleged he was deceived by Hamilton, who he accused of using a company in the British Virgin Islands to make a €1 million (£845,000 profit) on the Scot's drinks deal. It also emerged Hamilton received a £3 million gift from son Lewis after he won the world championship in 2008.

In a statement Di Resta announced he considered the matter to be closed - though it remains unclear whether money changed hands in the settlement.

Honda making ‘steady progress’ with F1® power unit

Honda say they are making ‘steady progress’ in developing their new Formula One power unit ahead of their return to F1 racing in 2015. The Japanese company’s V6 turbo engine will power the McLaren team from next year.

Honda have already set up a European headquarters for their Formula One operations, in Milton Keynes in the UK, where installation of dyno and assembly facilities will be completed in June.

Definitely good news. They have a year to make a super quick super reliable engine, if anyone the japs can do it.

Sabine Kehm, the official spokesperson for Michael Schumacher, has issued a statement.

It reads:

"Michael's family would like to again express their sincere thanks for the continuous sympathy coming from all over the world. The good wishes they receive help the family and, we are convinced they also help Michael, who still is in a waking up process.

As often in such situation no day is like the next. The family is thankful for one's understanding that they would not wish to disclose medical details in order to protect Michael's privacy. As assured from the beginning we will continue to communicate any decisive new information on Michael's health state. We are aware that the wake up phase can take a long time.

The family continues to strongly believe in Michael's recovery and place all their trust in the doctors', nurses' and nursing auxiliaries' team. The important thing is not the speed of the recovery but that Michael's heal process progresses in a continuous and controlled way."

Yeah, but it does at least keep the communcation channels open. Just glad the Brit rags haven't had too much action in here. I imagine after the shenanigans (apologies for the filter lol) of late, they are reluctant to tap phones, break in to hospitals etc. lol.. and rightly so.

So apparently the Ferrari F60 will be doing a street demonstration outside of soccer city on Saturday. Marc Gene will be behind the wheel. All to promote the Shell Nitro+ fuel. Anyone know what time this will take place. Funny this even hasn't been marketed that much. Anyone else hear about this?

Very much below the line type campaign. I was at Sandton City abt two weeks ago and they had a big thing there, an F1 car on display and everywhere leaflets to purchase something from Shell to get a ticket to te Ferrari day.

So I think they’re pushing it through Shell. But if you try google news there is not much.

De Silvestro secures Sauber test role

Sauber has announced Simona de Silvestro will be an affiliated driver with the team this year, with the goal of competing in F1 next season.

The Swiss driver has spent the last four years in Indycar, finishing second in Houston last October - the first podium finish for a woman on a road course in the history of the series. De Silvestro will spend 2014 testing, participating in simulator training to prepare for the mental and physical demands of F1.

The 25-year-old is hoping to earn her super license over the course of the season, and Sauber team principle Monisha Kaltenborn is confident De Silvestro will be ready for the step up.

Lekker, in all the years of F1 ladies have tried but have somehow never mastered to stay competitive.

Wonder if she'll be the first.

Thought it was open to all. Oh well. Would've been really awesome to see it burning some rubber.

May well be worth it. I don't think the requirement was too costly.

McLaren MP4-29 - bodied rear suspension

MP4-29.JPG

This drawing provides more detail of the previously-discussed rear suspension set-up on the new McLaren. After a miserable 2013 season, the team have come up with a highly interesting looking solution and one that has been cleared as legal by the FIA. To help prevent suspension components being designed as out-and-out aero devices, the rules require they have a maximum depth-height ratio of 3.5:1, be symmetrical and with a tolerance of 5 degrees. The incredibly big fairings on the MP4-29's toe link (1) and rear leg of the lower wishbone (2) have a ratio close to 1:1 and are symmetrical. These two elements help increase the mass flow out of the rear diffuser, working almost like a double beam wing, though the elements themselves will also create a degree of airflow blockage which could increase fuel consumption over a race distance.

New Lotus breaks cover in Bahrain

23011.3.jpg

The car first ran at a private filming day at Jerez two weeks ago, but Wednesday morning was the first time it hit the track in front of rival teams and the media. It is the last of the 2014 cars to emerge after the team had to skip the opening test at Jerez to continue work at its factory.

...

Looks pretty inoffensive on track, compared to what some of the other teams' engineers came up with.

Testing resumes in Bahrain today, cars out on track already, all 11 teams present.

Two times set already, Merc and Sauber.

Lol, that Lotus looks like a can opener.
