F1 2014 thread

Nico is being his usual indecisive self. Those half hearted overtake attempts are going to cost him the championship.

Cracking race! Spa Francorchamps delivers once again! Ricciardo again driving like a future champ. Bottas' star continues to rise. Would not want to be Nico Rosberg in the post race briefing, that's for sure.

Great to see Raikkonen competitive again, but you have to wonder why they gave him so much downforce on a speed dominated track when they knew that the Ferrari engine was down on power versus Mercedes to begin with. Alonso, Magnussen, Button and Vettel all showing what F1 should be all about. Hard, competitive, no quarter asked, but ultimately clean racing. Credit to them all.

Roll on Monza!

Ricciardo - WOOHOO! What a race.
Rosberg doesn't deserve his car IMO. The mistake on the opening lap was one thing, but throwing away the win after that?

Sho. Ricciardio is now almost as close to Lewis as Lewis is to Rosberg :D
2x DNF by Rosberg and Ricciardio could be in with a shout for 1/2 in the WC. That said, Rosberg has had an almost flawless car this year. He really drove a bit amateurish today.

This.

Who else lol'd when he had that piece of Hamilton's tyre waving in his face? :D

Rosberg gets (rightly) booed by the crowd. What a d*ckhead he was today...

Yup, Rosberg knows like everyone else, that he's the nr2 driver and will do anything with absolutely no shame to gain any advantage over Hamilton. If he wins the championship it will be disgrace to the sport

Why all the Rosberg hate? It was a mistake jeez like it. Booing doesn't help anyone. Nor does it add to the professionalism of the sport.

Loved the race.

A bit laid back at times, being Spa I was expecting weather difficulties but nonetheless. Another strong showing from Williams and Bottas, the boy is impressing race after race.

Nico/ Lewis issue is no issue to me. Racing incident which has happened hundreds times before. But now obviously crybaby and fanclub will blow it out of proportion.

Always fancy an Alonso penalty :D

Some awesome action at the end, that is what F1 is about.

Roll on Monza.

And so the whining and crying starts.......

Hamilton: Rosberg said clash was deliberate

Lewis Hamilton says Nico Rosberg admitted to deliberately causing the clash between the two that resulted in Hamilton retiring from the Belgian Grand Prix.

Hamilton and Rosberg made contact on the second lap at Les Combes after Rosberg left the nose of his car in the corner as it switched back. The incident caused a puncture on Hamilton's car, damaging the floor of the car and eventually forcing him to retire.

Senior management and the drivers met after the race and Hamilton said Rosberg had admitted to causing the accident to prove a point.

"It looked quite clear to me but we just had a meeting about it and he basically said he did it on purpose," he said. "He said he did it on purpose, he said he could have avoided it. He said 'I did it to prove a point', he basically said 'I did it to prove a point'. And you don't have to just rely on me, go and ask Toto [Wolff], Paddy [Lowe] and all those guys who are not happy with him as well.

"I was gobsmacked when I was listening to the meeting. You need to ask him what point he was trying to make."

Hamilton said Rosberg had even tried to blame him initially.

"He just came in there and said it was all my fault. Just came in there..."

The incident came after a team meeting on Thursday that was held to clear the air following the team orders incident in Hungary. Hamilton said he was not sure what had caused Rosberg's actions or what will happen now.

"I can't imagine what the team would do now. We came in to this weekend and I came with a really positive mind thought. I really was excited … we've got eight races and we're close - there's only 11 points in it - and I thought it was going to be good for all of us. Good racing, I thought this was going to be a track that was going to be exciting.

"It's interesting because we had that meeting on Thursday and Nico expressed how angry he was - I was thinking 'It's been three weeks and you've been lingering?!' He expressed how angry he was, he literally sat there and said how angry he was at Toto and Paddy. But I thought we should be good after that and then this result … it's interesting."

Rosberg, who was speaking to the press at the same time as Hamilton, maintained that he saw the event as a racing incident.
