F1 2014 thread

While BBC and Sky showed the anthem and are now busy doing analysis and pit interviews, Supersport is busy showing us youtube videos.

Amateurs

EDIT: Sent you a PM RogerWilcoZA ;)

Yes Hamilton has been unlucky but as in the past he's a "great" racing driver when things are going right... He becomes a whiny **** and starts blaming the world when things go bad, his head is so far up his own arse he can smell when he has bad breath...

Watching Rosberg beat Hamilton and seeing him sulk is going to make my year.

I suppose you didn't really enjoy lap 1 then? ;)

Gees that 4 second pit stop hurt Hamilton a bit.

They have been at least a second slower per pit stop slower for Hamilton. I imagine Mercedes has an interest in seeing a German win the WC.

Those two slow pit stops cost Hamilton a possible race win. However, Rosberg was always just quick enough to keep ahead and that's what counted.

Nice to see the Williams cars get solid points. I enjoyed the comment that Brundle made that Vettel should give Webber his car back. Divine justice, I say.

Ricciardo's attitude amazing says Red Bull F1 tech chief Newey
Daniel Ricciardo may have exceeded expectations on track this season, but it is his attitude in the car that has impressed Red Bull Formula 1 tech boss Adrian Newey most.

The Australian took his maiden victory at the Canadian Grand Prix when Mercedes hit trouble, and is currently third in the F1 drivers' standings behind Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton - two places and 19 points ahead of Sebastian Vettel.

Newey has singled out Ricciardo's calmness under pressure as a key attribute.

"Daniel has been massively impressive this year," explained Newey. "He has certainly exceeded all our expectations.

"What I find amazing about him is how calm he is in the car. When he's on the radio it's like he's sitting down with a cup of tea and driving one-handed. It's quite remarkable.

"He's very calm, collected, takes everything in his stride, and he's really enjoying his job."

Team principal Christian Horner has been equally blown away by the way Ricciardo has adapted to life at a frontrunning outfit.

"The way he has driven, the way he has made his passing moves, he has driven faultlessly all season," explained Horner.

"He grabbed his opportunity [in Canada] and I am delighted for him that he won his first grand prix.

"There were questions asked when we chose him as our driver alongside Sebastian and I think he has demonstrated beyond all doubt that he fully deserves that position."
I hope he gets to drive in a WC capable car soon.

Somewhat boring but nice race, really happy for Williams, well done guys.

Vettel is getting his own share of reality now :)

As for the rest it was some more of the same. Roll on Silverstone.

Renault performance 'unacceptable' - Red Bull

Red Bull has labelled Renault's reliability and performance as "unacceptable" after Sebastian Vettel suffered another issue at the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend.

Vettel experienced a loss of drive on the second lap of the race, putting him a lap down on the rest of the field even though he was able to continue. Red Bull later retired Vettel after he made contact with Esteban Gutierrez and told Daniel Ricciardo, who finished eighth, not to use his "overtake button" for fear of a similar problem on his car.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said the amount of reliability issues and lack of performance from its power unit meant something had to change at Renault.

"It's frustrating that we're in the situation that we are," he said. "We've obviously had a lot of success with Renault. We've won all the races and all the championships that we've achieved with Renault power, but the situation just isn't improving at the moment.

"The reliability is unacceptable, the performance is unacceptable and there needs to be change at Renault. It can't continue like this. It's not good for Renault and it's not good for Red Bull. We need to work together as partners and there will not be another engine in the back of the car next year, but we want to be competitive and we want to run at the front, so these kinds of issues cannot and should not happen.

Asked what he meant by changes at Renault, Horner added: "Something needs to happen because whatever's being done there isn't working at the moment. It's not our business, it's not our responsibility. We're the end user and it's just frustrating that the product is not where it needs to be at the moment."

Horner said Red Bull would remain with Renault next year but that a big improvement is needed

Horner is buckling a bit, contradictions in his statement, one statement talks about working together and the other that its not their problem.

Signs of cracks at RB ?
