Clucky is actually a decent guy so I wouldn't have minded seeing him win and Maxiboy retired.
...or if your boy Hamilton had to retire from 1st and Le Clerc won. It happens, finish crying and move on. It's Monaco and literally anyone can win that as long as they're in first on Sunday.

Didn't they change Checo from a 2 to a 3 stop strategy to accommodate this though?
Checo was on a 2-stopper. Makes sense in a way to at least get an RBR driver in front of the WDC come Monday. I am sure Checo will have chances to win this season. He drove brilliantly and really showed he has the pace. He just needs to keep going.

I gave my opinion, I didn't swear at your mother, please chill.

If you don't want to be the nr 2 driver then you should show it on the track, does not help you finish every race 20sec behind your teammate and then once when you on the pace, expect your team to let you win in front of the teammate way ahead of you on points.
Anyone think Merc will ask Russel to move over for Hamilton at this point?
Surely Checo could not have thought that he would have been regarded equal when joining Redbull? Only way to change that is on the track, which he haven't.

Don't come here with your facts and stuff.

I seem to recall it being mentioned yesterday that Rus and Ham were trying different setups in qualifying and the setup on Rus' car showed better performance in qualifying. It is too early to say who is better. Based on Lewis' charge yesterday he would've gotten by Rus easily. His pace suggested so.

2022 shows that Russell is considering he has beaten Hamilton in every race. 1 race's pace does not a season make. Russell is consistent and seems to be able to drive that pig of a car better.

It's not only the races, he's been ahead after virtual every FP and quali session too

Yeah, and here comes the  material...Hamilton enjoys a car that's far faster than anyone else and he can just point and steer.
Now that he doesn't have a decent car and was, at one stage, fighting it out in the mid-field (or lower) he's finding it tougher. But his team mate isn't and seems to be getting the best out of the car that he can.
That said, all Hamilton needs is to get pole this weekend and he wins as there's barely any overtaking in Monaco. I watch for the potential crashes (or for Seb's masterstroke to jump some rivals last year in a pitstop).

Not a Merc fan, but was really impressed how Russel defended and overtook. Did not look scared of highly rated drivers. Hamilton will have to up his game if he wants to be regarded as nr1 driver again.
Will never support them, but if Toto and Dame Lewis leave Merc, I could actually at least admire their racing, but those two drama queens make it impossible.
He reminded me of Senna, definitely going to be a world champ one day.

He's still far off The Minister of Defence :)

But I like Russell, he has heart and guts. A definite champ one day.

Are you new to F1 from 2015? Have you seen team orders prior to this? Even Bottas was told 2 years ago not to race Hamilton in one of the European races. And that wasn't the first time.

It was Spain last year. Ham was stuck behind Max so they pitted him so he’d be on newer tyres. He ended up behind Bottas and he was asked to let Lewis past. He did but make it a bit tougher than he should have into T10. Plan still worked because Ham did pass Max later and won.

Same happened with RB in France last year. Max pitted and Lewis stayed out. Checo was ordered to not fight him so Max could attack Lewis and he ended up winning.

It’s a team sport and while some people don’t like team orders, the team will favour whichever driver has the better chance at the time.

That's it. And when he got told to move over, I think Bottas's response was: That wasn't discussed earlier.

I took that to mean they hadn't discussed team orders and it wasn't on the cards, until it suddenly was and he had to play the dutiful #2 and move over.

This popped up in my fb memories today
