Nah Lewis just has faster race pace than him. Where are the Russell fan boys? All things equal, Russell won't be able to keep up with Lewis. He couldn't capitalize with the SC. I like Russell but the notion that he is the better driver is crazy.
The results this year speak for itself.

One has finished top 5 in every race in a crap car, and one has been a midfielder until the car suddenly became drivable...

Easy to look at it that way and ignoring the fact that LH ran with different unproven concepts that obviously failed to work. Also, he was hit by Kmag in one of those races which obviously cost him track positions.

/checks if this is just a new name

It is not. Am confused, how can there be two of them

Yeah, like Russell finishing quali on dry-weather tyres. That put him in a very difficult position from the start of the race...

Russel is a good driver, yesterday's qualifying proved that. He's willing to take chances, was a stupid risk but the potential reward shows he isn't scared of going for it.

Tbh I think all the top drivers drive very well yesterday. Max did really good job under pressure from Sainz, the merc strategy was good. Especially pre-empting the vsc and pitting Russell at the perfect time. Both Russell and Sir Ham drove the wheels off the shitbox.

Alonso was over confident. His car is fast but their strategy was crap.

If I recall correctly Merc has some upgrades planned for Silverstone. Should be interesting.
Merc are done this season. Their car design is based on a major flaw that they could only see once it hit the track. The high rake cars are doing better. It's not going to change this season.

Yeah I do not see them catching up. That Redbull in Max's hands looks unbeatable. Hopefully they can close the gap some more and potentially go for P2 and P3, in some races at least, given the inconsistencies and reliability issues of those behind Max

Hamilton has only moaned every FP, every Q, every race about the car. Suddenly, within 24 hours, it has gone from being undriveable to him ending up in 3rd. The world hasn't changed overnight, he's still outscored by his rookie team mate (and I mean rookie in the sense of Russell joining the team).
Don't think he's hit the lotto with this. Long season, and he has proven that if the car isn't a winner right from the start, and he doesn't have a clear #2 team mate, he struggles.

I think if Russel hadn't experimented on the slicks he would've started the race ahead of Ham, and finished ahead of him. I commend him for trying something though.

Nope, he doesn't have a car that's an immediate winner and cannot wring the life out of it like Russell can. That's the major difference.

How short memories can be.

Lewis is no perfect driver, but you lot sometimes seem to forget just how good he is. Which is also just fair praise to Russell, he's driving like a champ.

Yes, unfortunately it backfired. It's not like Hamilton outdrove Russell to get to 3rd for the race. Russell took a gamble, it didn't work and had no time to swop the tyres.
Norris had engine issues, and Le Clerc took that huge grid penalty. All of sudden the world's all roses now that Hamilton is back on the podium. Let's see what happens at SIlverstone in 2 weeks time.
Hopefully nobody gets sent into the barriers /triggered

Perhaps the only thing that Sir Lewis needed to lift his spirits a bit.

They've both been experimenting constantly, especially Lewis. So sometimes it works out for you, sometimes it doesn't. You haters really need to let it be for a bit. Lewis is good, George is just as good.

He drove the **** out of that car this weekend, even though it wasn't that good.

1 race does not make a championship contender...

Please show me where I said either George or Lewis are title contenders. I just said they drove well. For either of them to wine the title this year is close to impossible.

I didn't say you said that. I made an observation. Read further back please for context on the discussion.
Thanks!
