F1 will have synthetic fuel by 2026: https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/34155607/f1-synthetic-fuel-2026

"Formula One plans to introduce a sustainable fuel in 2026 as part of its pledge to be carbon neutral by 2030.

The synthetic fuel will be introduced in line with the sport's next iteration of hybrid engines, which will make their debut the same year.

F1 hopes the fuel will be used in standard internal combustion engines and be rolled out across the car industry.

According to the BBC, only 1% of the worlds cars were hybrid or electric in 2020 and F1 wants to be a force to increase that number in future years.

It has also made several other steps towards its carbon neutral pledge, including remote broadcast operations to reduce freight.

Last year's British Grand Prix was the first carbon-neutral broadcast production and F1 plans to deliver the same again at Silverstone this week.

F1 has also redesigned its freight containers so more efficient aircraft can be used to take them around the world."

Not f1 but probably as quick as one round a track. And road legal.

Did anyone else watch this yesterday?

2 tons of downforce at standstill. 1000bhp electric, less than 1000kg weight.
0-250 in about 4 seconds.

That one isn't road legal but they're bringing one, apparently. At at least £1m. For a single seater.
That being said, what a car to commute to work in.

Silverstone this weekend!

Amazing how the Piquet racism story just gets ignored by so many.

"There's no racism in F1"...
I see most of the teams have denounced it. Red Bull dropped Vips like a hot potato for saying it, but the only thing they've said regarding this is that they won't say anything regarding this. Surely not because their star driver is dating the prick's daughter. Tough spot for Max, but he should either have a spine and condemn it, or simply be vocal about his agreement, with Piquet. It's pretty much one or the other.

I was waiting for the user here who posts any old shìt that is remotely connected to F1 to post the story. I wonder why he felt it wasn't newsworthy...

Synthetic fuel in 2026 and ESPN getting TV rights in the US are WAAAY bigger stories ;).

It's got F all to do with Max. He's dating Kelly, not the father.

Stop trying to be woke.

I see Clucky condemned it on twitter. Good guy, I'm not a ferrari fan but if we can't have a merc driver as champ I wouldn't mind seeing Clucky up there.

That's precisely the point, he's dating his daughter which is making it a tough spot to be in - you ever tried insulting your future father-in-law?

Also, condemning racism has nothing to do with being woke, just being a decent human being. Do you have an issue with being a decent human being?

Piquet's comment is also old news ( podcast from Nov '21) ;) .. but hey it's the week of the british GP and because the G.O.A.T chances of winning his home race is slim the media needed to dig something up to stir the pot , much like you

I wouldn't have expected a different reaction from you, thanks for confirming your prejudice.

Those cars will sound even worse now...:)

Not sure how F1 will be a force to increase the number of hybrid and electric cars in future considering their cost and the technology in them.

That said I'd buy a hybrid in a heartbeat as it's more effective than full electric. Certainly here. Cheaper too.

Piquet should not have said that full stop, no matter when or where Hamilton is racing. I don't support Hamilton, but you don't go using those terms knowing it's going to be made public. And knowing your daughter dates the current WDC.

Twitter has been set alight now with comments about how Verstappen uses these terms as well simply because he dates Piquet's daughter. Not cool for the guy if he doesn't use them at all. But, the public Twitterati court is tarring and feathering the guy en-masse.

It's not about being woke, it's about being principled.

Respect only goes so far. If it were my future FIL I would have told him off, and if his daughter sides with him then she can go marry him...
...were you perhaps involved in any calls or meetings where this wasn't raised with Nelson Piquet? If not, then it's all personal belief of a situation that may or may not have happened. And it helps with the Twitterati now pushing the narrative that Verstappen also uses those words.

That's quite a stretch, my FIL has many views that I don't share.
