Thank F Vettel retired or we would've never moved on from "Conflict of Interest"....
...can you imagine what's going to happen now? Has he retired, or retyred? Because he still needs to drive a car so technically it's retyred, not retired.

And then we open another can of worms.

Seb's farewell message on Instagram

Who's cutting onions....

Also "by the end of the 2022 season", not at the end.

Wasn't a fan of him in the winning days as a ferrari supporter but never understood the hate he got, he can count himself as one of the legends of the sport.

Thought it was a hoax at first, he doesn't do social media.

Looks like the Instagram post was taken down probably generated more traffic than Meta could handle.
I bet DTS manage to take a copy before it vanished though

Looks like it was moved over to Youtube:

That's a fairly sombre tone...I hope we get more insights into what's behind this, what his plans are etc.

He discusses it more openly here:

"Having made the decision and gone public with it, Vettel feels a huge weight lifted from his shoulders, so much so that when asked if he will still be motivated over the remaining (ten) races of his F1 career, he replied: "I don't see that I will have a problem to motivate myself... I feel a little bit the opposite.

"Obviously this decision has been in my head for so long now," he continued, "and has taken so much energy to be honest. And maybe even at times distracted me a little bit, that I'm quite relieved and looking forward to the next races. So it's maybe more the opposite.

"The timeline takes us years back," he admitted, when asked when he made the decision to quit. "So it's not a decision I took overnight.

"Obviously, the final decision was taken yesterday, by telling the team that I'm going to stop and not going to continue. But there was a lot of thought leading into this."

and a lot more including ...

"But for sure, seeing the world changing and seeing the future, in a very threatened position for all of us, and especially for generations to come, I understand that part of my passion, my job is coming with things that I'm not a fan of, obviously, travelling the world, racing cars, burning resources, literally.

"I think once you see these things, and once you're aware, then I don't think you can really unsee. It's not the main factor. Like I said, it is a combination of many things, but it is also part of the driver behind the decision."

...I wonder if he wouldn't consider Formula E then? That would be an interesting move.
Someone on Twitter suggested he compete for the Triple Crown (F1/Indy 500/Le Mans) but I don't think he has much interest in that at all.

Predictions for the race week anyone?

1. AMR to turn up the power of Seb's car so that he's at the front end of the grid for the final 10 races.
2. Seb to, once more, outperform the team owner's son.
3. Checo to have a significantly better race.
4. Merc to default back to being mid-runners again after Seb jumps both of them.
5. Le Clerc to have managed to get over being psychologically destroyed last week and actually finish this one.

All tongue-in-cheek so nobody should take that all personally.
