I wonder if driver height has anything to do with it? Max and George are both 10cm longer than Lewis and Perez. Could be that certain car setups suit taller drivers and vice versa

That's not how it happened. Luca di Montezemolo hired Jean Todt as GM of Scuderia Ferrari in 1994. Jean Todt hired MS in 1996. Michael wasn't managing the team. He was the driver.
You would think that Jean Todt was arguably the mastermind in Ferrari's success with MS, but it was apparently Nikki Lauda who convinced Michael to join Ferrari.

So you could argue that Nikki Lauda was the mastermind behind two 7 times WC's major successes.

LOL so you agree with me that MS has no equal in F1.
So Nicky Lauda/Jean Todt knew the only way to make Ferrari great again is by signing MS.
Todt was there before MS and nothing improved with Ferrari. Lauda only help in signing him.
Only after a few years that MS helped them develop the car and chose his teammates, managers and rest of his team, Ferrari became dominant.

Whilst I agree that MS is a great, I do think that we get generational greats such as Senna, MS, Lewis, Max. So it is difficult to single out one driver as the all time great. Senna didn't have as many championships as LH and MS but many still regard him as of the best drivers of all time.

Also same can be said of Max and LH. Both came in when the teams were not winning and together with the teams built championship winning era's which we are now seeing with RB.

Oh yes of course. Unlike Mercedes where everyone is encouraged to race the Sir! No team orders or anything.

Oh, well by that standard MS sucked at fixing the Merc. It took Hamilton to turn it into a world dominator.

Mr Sir walked into the Merc team that was already designed for the win... He did his best to write the team's car off for a few years
