The wind tunnel penalty effect will come later in the season when the other teams starts catching up. Don't count that fact out just yet.
it might be too late by then - the dominance looks insane

What a boring race for most parts. Red Bull's dominance continues, the Ferrari's prancing horse looks more like a lame donkey. Best was Alonso's performance.

Looks like it will be title no 3 for Verstappen (in dominant fashion).

Merc may win a race or two and unreliability will get the better of Leclerc.

Look I am a Ferrari fan but I don't think Verstappen get the praise he deserves sometimes.
Yes RB is probably the fastest car, but take Verstappen out and it would be close racing between Perez and the Ferraris and AM.
But Verstappen's brilliance let him pull away to a 15s gap quickly and then just idle and nurse the car and tires through the rest of the race.

Verstappen is the best driver out there right now, regardless of how we may feel about him. The best driver naturally gets the best machinery.

Hamilton was the best driver at one point and so got the best car.

I'd say a driver makes a difference of about 3 seconds or so which in F1 is massive. If someone like Mick Schumacher was driving Verstappen's car, he'd be 1.5-2 seconds slower on average IMO and would also be making more mistakes. The same applies if he had to be driving prime Hamilton's car.

No disrespect to Mick, seems like a nice guy but makes too many mistakes and maybe more suited to Formula E.

Ferrari will be lucky to get 3rd this year - probably 4th. I'll say it again - firing Binotto was a misstep.

Please elaborate? Leclerc was comfortable in 3rd place. And MB could not even pass the tortoise Sainz?
This is the 1st race of the season and all cars does not work great on all tracks.
As for Binotto, anything unreliable at this stage is still his doing, Fred is there for a short while, he might have had a few changes in staff and decisions, but no ways anything on the car has his influence. These cars and their development are planned long ahead, so the soonest Fred will have any influence on performance of car will maybe be late in this season, but probably only next season.

I still prefer the skyf1 commentary on the international feed on F1tv. It's a pity F1tv don't provide the SkyF1 pre and post coverage especially the grid walk.
The Grid walk can be cringeworthy at times but yesterday was a classic.
Martin Blundell and Jeremy Clarkson looking like a couple of old farts surrounded by young talent and commenting how big the cars have got since Clarkson last saw one.
I actually felt a bit sorry for him.

I LOVED seeing Clarkson. Even SO was "Hey, it's Clarkson's Farm guy"

Is it just me or does it look like the MB fans are quiet? And more important, the ones that still post looks like they are discussing Ferrari's problems rather than their own team's lack of improvement since start of 2022.

You're supporting my point - Binotto only had 3 years - brought a new car in new regulations and delivered arguably the best performance Ferrari has seen in a long time. Stop making excuses for Fred - a DNF in the first race with a car which is a known quantity is inexcusable - I'd have said the same for Binotto if he was still around. But let's see if my prediction plays out - either a very close 3rd or 4th place for the constructors.

What I also noticed, is that the replies to Max's and RB's Twitter posts are mostly positive and the toxicity has gone. Clearly TeamLH has moved on from Costgate and 2021 Gate and are more concentrated in their own pile of problems.

Last year, Max's Tweet replies were deadly, but there has been a big shift this year so far.

You obviously a new F1 Merc fan and don't understand F1 and more important Ferrari. Binotto was not fired because of unreliable cars that broke down.
Remember all the clown memes of Ferrari? All the bad press they got from their strategies? He was fired because he made the team look like fools, because he could not lead the staff and drivers properly to make correct calls and strategies.
