Qualifying looks like it will be wet. Rain also forecast for Sunday morning in Montreal with it clearing in the afternoon. Could be a mixed up race.

What does quali look like then?

Probably Max, Alonso, Hamilton?

Or maybe some random Haas coming in with a ridiculous lap before being useless in the race.

Probably a safe bet on that as a top 3.
 
If you think Canada has a boring track you are too new to F1 to remember the 2011 Canadian GP.
The race took about 4,5 hours IIRC and that is why the 2 Hour cutoff was introduced, but it is still my all time favorite event. Here are the highlights but they hardly do it justice.

The 2 hour rule has been in F1 longer than most of us have been alive.

The only exception is if the race is halted by a Red flag in which case the total time including the red flag stoppage must not exceed 4 hours (since 2012), and the total time excluding the red flag stoppage may not exceed 2 hours.

The race at Mugello saw 2 red flags, the first time since 2017, and the exception to the 2-hour rule was applied over here making it a lengthier race than usual.

So the 4 hour rule was introduced in 2012 as a result of the 2011 Canadian GP.

...only for people to start screaming how much better that Haas driver has been that Mick Schumacher (while he's being passed by 15 other cars after 3 laps). Such a fickle bunch those fans.
 
Can anyone hesitate a guess that AMR (well, actually only Alonso!) will be very quick this weekend? Alonso has been hinting at something coming in the upgrades this weekend.

Well it is a home race for the team (If we ignore the fact that they are actually Russians pretending to be Canadians and driving a British Car) ;) so they will have a home race advantage with the fans.
 
So this red flag was thrown around the time of the Alpine grinding to a halt. But it's supposedly for some cctv camera issues. My question is, is it purely coincidental that the cameras failed around the time of the Alpine stopping. If not and the cameras were down from the start, then why did the session start in the first place.

And why do the cctv cameras matter? (this is purely a lack of knowledge question on my part).
