If this sprint shootout is the same format as Main Qualifying why did it bump Main Qualifying to Friday?
We could have had FP1 and Sprint shootout on Friday, and the sprint race in place of FP3 on Saturday.
Then as the cars are all in Parc fermé anyway then the rest of the weekend could stay as before with Qualifying Saturday and Race on Sunday.

They have to fit things in somewhere. Makes no sense to go straight to quali, they need at least 1 practice session. So FP1 and quali yesterday. Quali and race today. Tomorrow should just be a race, no FP3.

But FP1 is the only session, they are then in Parc fermé for the rest of the weekend so as no further changes may be made to the cars and setup, the order of the Quali sessions is irrelevant. Other than the fact that they have moved main Qualifying to a Friday which was totally unnecessary.

There certainly won't be an FP3 tomorrow.

If I understand correctly, the idea is to have Saturday as a semi-standalone event for spectators.

At the cost of most fans now missing out on the Main Qualifying session which is actually important to F1 as a sport and not just entertainment like the sprint.

If they had not insisted that sprint points count in the championship it would be irrelevant.
As it is it disrupts schedules, reduces testing to so teams cant improve and adds additional jeopardy potentially harming the main race.

But then I am just one of the old fans from the Ecclestone days, not an Indy fan that they are trying to convert.

When the ignoramus ask why the FIA red flags races when it's raining heavily...

Dilano van't Hoff dead: Motorsport star, 18, tragically dies after accident during race

18-year-old racer Dilano van't Hoff died as a result of an incident at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit while competing in the Formula Regional European Championship.

I wish everyone would move on from Ricciardo already.

For all the flack Checo is getting, he ended the second driver curse that RB was sitting with and ensured they bagged 2 constructors championships.

Also still second this year. Imagine wanting to sack a guy who's sitting second in the championship. Wtf do you have to be smoking? Sure he could be more consistent but he's doing his part from a team point of view.

Actually I hope they boot him and they see their arses again. That senile old fart Marko needs to be put in his place...
I don’t disagree with you at all. Marko will be the end of that team eventually.

Bernie and Ted make a good team, the likable Geeks :)
They should do the Notebook together.

Oh dear, some handbags gonna be swinging at Red Bull after the race, lol.
