Others stayed within. If there was a wall there, would it have been the wall's fault that he didn't go faster?

I don't disagree. What I do contend is Mike's assertion ("business as usual") that he failed to make Q2 due to some inherent lack of speed and talent.

I think for me...his general inability to impress is sort of expected at this point. Granted it's only 2 tracks in so he deserves the benefit of the doubt. But we've already seen what he can do when at his best in a great car. And what he can do is not much really.

Actually wasn't to do with qualifying. More like failing to live up to the hype. Once in a blue moon he'll eventually do well and that will be enough to keep the hype going. The oke is the Shahid Afridi of F1...

Track evolution for you. We saw it earlier this year. I also wonder if Lando's excursion across the gravel trap did some unseen damage to his undercarriage. He didn't seem to kick on like the rest did. Got high hopes for him on Sunday though.

He cost McLaren a place in the constructors, such was the gap between him and his much less experienced and lower paid teammate.

Inb4 the car was set up for Lando, the much less experienced and lower paid driver. But smiles and sponsors, that's why he deserves the second seat at RB...

I didn't say he's better than Lando. Unless you don't think much of Lando.
Lando would whip Max' ass in the same hardware guaranteed.
Max would run out of 4 letter vocabulary if that happened.

Verstappen barely survived Q2, scraping through in 10th place after Pierre Gasly missed the chance to go above him in the final seconds of the session.

The Dutchman was furious. “We should have just pushed two laps in a row like I said,” he told his team over the radio.

His long-suffering race engineer Lambiase replied: “You are through Max.”

Verstappen continued: “I don’t give a f--- mate that we’re P10. It’s just s--- execution.”

Lambiase, who had clearly had enough, then added: “OK then, when the track was two seconds quicker for your final lap and you didn’t have any energy left, how would that have gone down? But you tell me what you want to do in Q3, and we’ll do it. Sets, fuel, run plan.”
