Im just at odds with the definition of (un)necessary. If you can’t drive through a corner now and get up to speed and impede another driver it’s necessary to impede? Come now. .

But they don't say necessary, they say he wasn't guilty of unnecessarily impeding. That doesn't mean it was necessary, that's just you deducing it to mean that it must be the opposite. You either unnecessarily impede or you don't unnecessarily impede.

They could have used something like unintentional/intentional, but this creates it's own issue where you're effectively ruling on what somebody is thinking. So I think it's obvious what they mean here. This is such a stupid thing to be arguing about...

They’re interpreting it as more of unintentional than unnecessarily and that’s my concern really.

Not unnecessary <> necessary.

"You're being a dick" = an unnecessary insult.
"You're confused" = not an unnecessary insult, doesn't make it a necessary insult.

They try to avoid ruling on a person's frame of mind, because only that person knows what they're thinking...

They're saying he wasn't just hanging about. He was going as fast as he could at the time, Hamilton was just going faster.

It’s unnecessarily - ie. In a way which is avoidable. Was not gaining enough momentum avoidable?
 
This F2 Feature Race is total Chaos, all three title contenders out in a few laps and now the wheels have come off, literally for Vestee :laugh:

Yes and clearly they found it unavoidable, which is why they deemed it not unnecessary.

What would you have him do to make it avoidable? Sacrifice his own hot lap for the sake of letting Sir through?

Schit happens when there's traffic in qualifying, it's one of those things. It happens to everyone, Hamilton isn't a special case. If you want clear space then go out first...

Stroll wasn’t on a hot lap and had the 14th corner and straight ahead which was plenty to get up to speed.
I just don’t see how trying to drive fast but getting in the way is not unnecessarily impeding in this instance. The clear space argument applies to Stroll too.

Maybe he felt that's where he needed to build up speed from. Just because you would have done it differently doesn't mean he had to. Both drivers obviously presented their cases and the stewards found nothing malicious. It is what it is...
