Think RB is regretting copying Merc's zero sidepod idea. Everyone copied RB's 2023 car and now they're reaping the rewards, while RB struggles like Merc did

Pretty good race overall. Well done to Lando, he smashed it. LeClerc, Sainz, Ham all did well to move up nicely. Not sure what happened with Russell's pit, very odd.

Seems the RB just wasn't sorted on this track.

Must give congrats to Perez as well, it's about time he won something.

Overall, decent race, but it was a bit of a boring one.

I think Mclaren will be fastest for the remainder of the year, but I don't think they will win every race. I think Max will do just enough to squeeze out his 4th, but it will be tight come December.

It boggles my mind how wrong the RB team got this car development after Miami. You can see how Max is fighting that car around corners, compared to last year where that car just stuck every corner beautifully.

Perez is kak.

I actually fell asleep once or twice. Granted I'm getting old but what a snooze fest for the most part.

I think the previous Zandvoort races weren't anything exciting either. Great track until you have to watch an F1 race in it.

Regardless - I dare say only Monaco was more of a waste of time watching.

So reading f1technical....

RB know they went wrong badly, so they actually used Zandevoort as testing.

Max was running the launchspec floor from Bahrein.
Checo was running the China spec floor.

This is part of the reason why Lando was able to be 20+ seconds ahead of Max by the end of the race.
Checo in fact, was 2 tenths a lap quicker than Max.

But yeah, I am pretty sure the alarm bells are ringing non-stop at Redbul.

That is interesting.

Wasn't that around the time that Adrian Newey was excluded from technical meetings following his announcement of retirement.

the race was strange.

watching LH and Carlos Sweep though the field and make overtakes for fun was very entertaining.

but then the top 4 were unable to do the same?

I mean sure Lando got past Max on lap 18.
but with how Piastry struggled to get past LeClerc it was almost like it was a different race.

some strange Strat calls from Merc, the pit for Lewis was fine, on the softs he could (and did) chase down Perez and maybe put a move on.
but then they brought George in, lost 2 positions (not pitting would have only cost him 1) and that then in my opinion cost Lewis clean air that he could have used to chase down Checko. its a what if scenario I just dont understand why they pitted George.

I am also interested in who made the most overtakes yesterday between Lewis and Carlos.

I think Merc were expecting George's pace on a new set to be far greater than Checos. Gamble didn't pay off. George did hold up the rest of the field during the earlier stages too, which was a shame.

I think LH. He had to go through most of the mid field, probably a good 6-7 places?

Yeah Perez actually had a good drive and deserves his congrats... Verstappen was driving the snot out of that RedBull but it just couldn't do the business.
