Pirelli axe F1 tyre as no new compounds to be introduced in 2024: https://racingnews365.com/pirelli-axe-f1-tyre-as-no-new-compounds-to-be-introduced-in-2024

"Pirelli has confirmed that there will be no new tyre compounds in the 2024 Formula 1 season, as the P0 tyre is set to be axed.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Pirelli introduced a new specification C1 compound to reduce a difference in performance between the then hardest C1 and C2 tyres, with the P0 being the P1 compound from 2022.

However, despite being tested, the tyre was never used during a Grand Prix weekend, with Pirelli opting for the C1 as its hardest tyre at high-energy tracks that places heavy loads on the tyres - such as Barcelona or Silverstone.

For 2024, the Pirelli range is set to revert back to five compounds with the C1 being the hardest and C5 the softest.

The colours will remain the same, with the softest tyre being red-marked, the medium being yellow and the hardest tyre carrying white-sidewall markings...."

Would be nice if they did something about the wet / inter tyre situation.

I don't think there are any regulation changes for the cars for 2024?

For FP1, half the grid is out to impress, while the other half is out to not get embarrassed by the young drivers. Interested to see how the RBs stack up.

McLaren agree extension to use Mercedes power until 2030

McLaren have opted for continuity and stability by extending their deal to run Mercedes power units until 2030.

The British team have run Mercedes power since 2021 – and previously between 1995 and 2014 – and already had an arrangement that ran until 2025.

However, with new power unit regulations – with an enhanced focus on electrical power – looming in 2026, McLaren and Mercedes have moved to get a deal done quickly.

“Mercedes-Benz have been a brilliant and reliable partner of the McLaren Formula 1 team,” said McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown. “The extension signifies the confidence that our shareholders and the wider team have in their powertrains and the direction we’re taking with them into the new era of regulations ahead.

“We have been successful together, both in the last three seasons and when they previously powered the team, so we look forward to the success to come as we continue our journey to fight consistently at the front of the grid.”

This is the worst F1 thread opening ever. Second post level effort.

No poll, no art, no ludicrous claims...

If they just banned heavy rains we wouldn't have these issues.
Liberty Media did approached the Pope with that suggestion but as the Vatican Guard wouldn't allow the Netflix camera crew inside, It was never presented to His Holiness. ;)

Checo won't make it to race 10 next year. Lawson will step in.

Max will win the championship, but it will go down to one of the last races of the season.

Team LH will implode from Russell consistently finishing ahead of Lewis.

Charles will finally find some luck and give Max a good run throughout the year.

Red Bull will dominate in Singapore.
