With more than an hour still to run, Leclerc set the fastest time of 1:31:750, with Oscar Piastri half a second behind.

Williams' Logan Sargeant rounded out the top three, with Sergio Perez in fourth and Fernando Alonso in fifth.


Below is the full classification from the morning session on Thursday:

4. Sergio Perez (Red Bull) - +1.129s, 20 laps

7. Zhou Guanyu (Kick Sauber) - +1.965s, 38 laps

The hour lost in the morning session will be tacked onto the afternoon session. Session runs from 14:00 - 19:00 local time (13:00 - 18:00 SA time)

Good, he is an excellent Engineer and should have remained in charge of the car design not the Team Principal Role.
I am glad that the Ferrari Circus did not destroy his reputation or his career prospects.
Happy for him but can't help feel that it's a loss to F1.
 
The rest of the tracks are going to need take note. The street circuits especially but why drain placement is on the racing line on a proper track is beyond me.

TBF, that drain is about 1.5m from the track's edge, which is defined by the white line. So if the drivers stop going off-track, the problem would be solved :popcorn:
