While I do agree. when a car is so dominant that it can make Perez look good you have to admit it takes away some of the shine from Max.
lets ignore 2021 because that is a different aero era.


2022 the red bull and Ferrari were fighting for the first few races then Red Bull started getting just crazy far ahead from about half way though the season. the car was insanely dominant in the second half already and save for a few track specific issues the car was unstoppable. and Max was fantastic in it, but with the car so dominant it took away some of the skill Max has. I mean remember when he did a 360 spin and still won by like 5 seconds? that was all car.

2023 Redbull won everything other than Singapore. the car was in another level. it even made Perez look good.

First 5 races of 2024 The Red Bull was still dominant, then Mclaren brought upgrades, and the Red Bull upgrades stopped bringing performance. that is when Max's talent started showing to me.

I stand by my statement, its a deserved championship win, and so are the other 2, but this one was not off a dominant car making it more deserved.

I dont think Max will add a 5th in 2025, I believe it will be a close battle between at least 2 teams but possibly 4 teams, and anywhere between 4 and 7 drivers will have a shot at the title next year. Personally my hope lies in Piastry to take the title next year. with an outside hope that Kimi takes it to show his early promotion is well deserved, but Strong doubt that will happen.

Showed Max's talent to a degree yes, but considering the commanding position having a dominant car put him in during the first half of the season, the champion result compares to Button's championship with Brawn and the double diffuser.... and well.... nobody, at least I hope not, is going to wax lyrical about Button being up there as one of the greatest.

The bungling by Mclaren and Ferrari was an entertaining as usual, even if dissapointing/frustrating at times. I love me some Matt P1 roller coasters over a season, man is a hoot to follow.

the Drive in Brazil was something Button never did, setting max apart from the rest and even for me who thinks he is an entitled prat who has had everything given to him on a platter his entire life has to admit it was one of the best drives I have seen. its up there with Brazil 2021, Monza 2008, China 2011, Brazil 2012, and lets not forget Canada 2011

As mentioned in another comment, if you are going to do this then you need to do the same with Lewis (2014, 2015, 2019, 2020), Senna (88), Michael (02, 04), Vettel (2011, 2013), etc.

Good drivers tend to get good cars and then they do exactly what you should do in a good car; hammer your rivals.

Perez was a good driver. People are quick to forget that for a sustained period of time he was consistently the ''best of the rest'' in the standings. IE, the best non-Mercedes, Red Bull or Ferrari ('Big Three') driver. In 2015 the Williams duo of Bottas & Massa pipped him but that was when Williams were making exceptional use of the Merc PU and were regular contenders for podiums. In 2016 and 2017 only the 'Big Three' drivers beat him. In 2018 he was narrowly pipped by Nico Hulkenberg to ''best of the rest'' and in 2019 Carlos Sainz was the only driver not in driving for the 'Big Three' to beat him. Perez was no slouch when he got the Red Bull seat.

Danny Ric belongs nowhere near an F1 seat again.

Herta is guaranteed to drive for them if he gets his Super License.

Perez was snubbed at every turn with his suggestions for developing the car. As has been noted before by many pundits, an exceptional driver often hampers the car's development because instead of developing the car, they work around the deficiencies. Probably why many only hit a few WC before the cliff.

I still rate him higher than Lando and he'd have pushed Max harder this season if he was in that McLaren. I think he is a lot more combative and would have held up better in the wheel-to-wheel stuff. His drive in LV also shows that he may have been better at converting his opportunities where Lando blew so many of his poles.
