That's the impression I get. It's effective psychological warfare when you pitch up at the actual race and just walk away with it after mediocre pre-season testing.

Been watching practice in the background and realizing how long we've had the same hybrid sounds. 10 years now.

And with the ICE making less power in 2026 the sound is just going to get worse in the quest for better efficiency and more battery power. Atleast the cars are still fast and look cool?

Well, for qualifying, they have left it quite late. Quali doesn't look like a foregone conclusion. The race might be different. Cant wait for quali.

PS: it does look like track limits will also play a part in quali.
