It's a pity the new kid, (Bearman), could not crack into the top 10. But for his first foray into F1 and at short notice, he didn't do too badly.

Also shows the underlying pace of that Ferrari compared to the Merc and others

Why? Le Clerc is known as a great qualifier and he is marginally faster than Alonso in the Aston merc and the two Mclaren mercs? With that Alonso is old and a great young driver would be even faster than him in the Aston.
Mercedes factory team is just clueless and they do not have the best driver lineup.

Exclusive: Ferrari poach potential Wolff successor from Mercedes: https://racingnews365.com/exclusive-ferrari-poach-potential-wolff-successor-from-mercedes

"Jerome D'Ambrosio is to join Ferrari from Mercedes, RacingNews365 has learned.

Early last year, D'Ambrosio was seen in the Mercedes pits, working with the team on an informal basis before being appointed as its driver development director 12 months ago. D'Ambrosio primarily looked after the young drivers on Mercedes roster competing in the various series globally. The 38-year-old Belgian, who raced in Formula 1 in 2011 for Marussia Virgin Racing before a one-off outing with Lotus in 2012, was also viewed as a potential successor to Toto Wolff as team principal in the future.

D'Ambrosio had previously been a deputy team principal with Venturi Racing over the 2020-21 season, before stepping up to take over the reins for the following campaign. He moved into a managerial role after six seasons as a driver in Formula E. During his time with Mercedes, D'Ambrosio was frequently seen at Wolff's shoulder at times during grand prix weekends. Midway through the season, Wolff confirmed D'Ambrosio would serve as team principal at races he did not attend, leading to the latter replacing the Austrian at the Japanese and Qatar Grands Prix after he underwent knee surgery. ..."

"We're missing our old mascot anyway,” smiled Wolff during an interview with Austrian broadcaster ORF.
“Then we'll just take Helmut. He's the right age. He doesn't have a red cap, but then he'll come to us.”
He added: "Helmut is not a child of sadness and was - or is - our favourite enemy. But he is a real racer. If they lose Helmut, it will certainly be a loss for Red Bull and for the team."

Ergo, Max to Merc as well then.

Would be funny af if that happened, the Ferrari fans who were hating on Hamilton, and now the Merc fans who were hating on Max, having to support the enemy.

I suspect a lot of allegiances changing...

Why did that image not show up until I quoted your post? What has changed on this site? Using Chrome on Android and also tried desktop mode. No image and this is happening with many posts.

Piastri could be the guy. Renault messed up big time by not locking him down when they had the chance.

The Aussie wonder kid hasn't done anything but finish behind Norris really. We're already talking about the next wonder kid (the Ferrari guy....).

Don't think Zak has done too bad considering where they were under the bad old Ricciardo days...

If they get the car to the front they'll have a Le Clerc/Sainz type situation I think. As long as they win, doesn't matter, I'll take the Aussie.
