While close sports games are brilliant to watch I just as much enjoy watching displays of excellence, even extended displays. It takes unique skill and dedication for a single athlete or team to rise above the field and I have great appreciation for this. You might find it boring. I find it fascinating and inspiring.
That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I would rather see healthy competition.

The development race is going to the point of interest for most of this season I think. McLaren had no straight-line speed this weekend, which hampered them massively. Merc were slowest or second slowest in the slow corners. Either of those being fixed would have changed the race a bit.

Alpine tried to run without a gearbox! Imagine how much better Gasly would have done if he had a gearbox.

I enjoy seeing whether Redbull or even Max alone will win all the races in the season, that would be a historical moment in the sport, but if I want excitement I watch the rest of the field and see how the development race unfolds, some teams really have some issues to sort out. The racing on track is just one aspect of Formula 1
The coverage barely even shows Max. So what are people watching when they say it's boring watching one person winning? Which stream is showing one person winning?

Ja hell.. first three laps, perhaps his pit stop and then the last lap. Maybe 5 min worth of coverage?

I think of all the drivers, LH, Magnussen and Bearman got the majority of screen time.

I think the implication is the lack of racing at the front, more than what's actually being shown. The midfield stuff is great, but I think back to Max vs Lewis in 2021 and that was fantastic to watch because they were racing for top spot, the belt, the trophy, the accolades. Watching Magnussen disrupt half the grid was amusing and impressive, but there's not much pay-off from that.

Thank you! Next drink is on me.

I like Max but I want to see others getting 1st place for a change. Even Lewis, just to break his dry spell coz I am getting tired of hearing him blaming his car setup.

Yeah that season was a nail biter, my brother started watching F1 with me that season and he found it super exciting, during that I was able to explain the strategies and the behind the scenes goings on which he now also enjoys along with the racing. But if it was a dominant season like this I'm not sure if it would hold as much interest initially.

I think that was an outlier of a season though and we won't get many of those, but even if this year is a foregone conclusion, next year with all the contracts ending and musical seats being played, that will shake things up quite a bit.

I also appreciate that they don't show Max just doing a Sunday drive, I know he is winning and not making mistakes, show me the interesting fights at the back, which is what they do for the most part

Plenty of racing at the front, just not for the win.

We could also swing the argument the other way - what are the other teams doing to challenge RB/Max?

Mclaren was literally at the bottom during the first half of last year, then swung it around to start challenging at the front.

2021 was exciting because someone finally took it to Merc/Hamilton. You can't blame anyone else for it not being exciting, except the other teams...

So then we might as well give up on watching sport if the outcome is a foregone conclusion. especially if you are paying to watch that sport. Don't wait till later in the year, just give Red Bull and Max their trophies now.

People have been trying to explain that there are other things to watch rather than just who wins, but you seem to not accept that, so if that is it for you then maybe find something else to watch, ill stick to F1 as I still find it quite interesting

I am only watching the highlights posted on Formula 1 channel on YouTube this year. Cannot afford that membership this year, over a thousand Rand now. Madness

You sure about the price? I'm pretty sure I saw R800 somewhere recently

Try to see it from the other perspective, the other way to view that is what's the point of watching sport when only the team you support is winning?

You have to take the losses with the wins. This happens in every sport.

When the All Blacks were dominating, did we stop watching rugby? When the Aussies were dominating, did we stop watching cricket?

You support your team to overcome whatever challenges, and hope to see them get back to challenging at the top.

Don't blame the winner, blame those for not doing enough to challenge the winner...

I get that their are other things happening during the race. of course it was great to see if the chasing duo would catch Bearman. There were a few good overtakes as well. The predictable outcome is my problem.
