Monaco is not about the fans, it is for the Sponsor's.

That is the event where the Teams wine, dine and party with sponsor's to say thanks and to sign them up for another year or two. So yes, it may be boring for the adrenalin junkies, but it is an essential part of the season and a lot of teams depend on it to continue footing the bill for the more exciting races.

What did Martin Brundle say, he had a 60-page list of visiting celebrities?

Some positives from the race:
- 4th winner this year in 8 races
- Red Bull's lead is down to 24 points
- Max's lead is down to 31 over LeClerc
- Another awesome story this year in LeClerc getting pole and winning his home race.

All this is great for F1, unexpected and hopefully continues for the rest of the year.

Yeah not a bad Monaco. The quali was decent but I can't help to wonder what Max was going to do on his final attempt, he was looking decent after a few terrible practice rounds.

Overall just super happy for Charles. Ferrari was clearly the better car this weekend with Mclaren up there with them. Overall the race was rather lack luster with everyone just managing their tyres the entire stint. Max trying to get past Russel at the end was at least a little entertaining, but this track is just not a good track for racing.

RB has a big dilemma. They need a good number 2 driver because the other teams like Ferrari and Mclaren will continue to rake up the points and take that constructors away from RB. Max cannot do all the work anymore.

Checo should never have been between the Haas cars, and his form is starting to dip again like last year. WTF is Kevin doing this year? I reckon Kevin, Daniel, Zhou, Logan and perhaps Checo will not have racing seats next year.. or even by the summer break.

Good read from The Race. TL;DR It's a design failing in the Red Bull. It's ground effect downforce is so good because the car rides low and stiff, which is problematic at bumpy/kerby street tracks. Previously, they were so far ahead, that their lap time losses were hidden by their outright pace, but teams are catching up.

Yeah and I think it will show as well at Singapore and a few other street circuits. Traditional circuits would have to be the races RB targets for wins this year. Max should still push through for the championship but at least it will be good competition along the way. It wont be easy.

Look Monaco will never be the most exciting race. Its about the history and qualifying is the best part. But most years it is not too bad. Since overtaking is near impossible, pit strategies plays a huge role, with the undercut coming into play and you can undercut but if you land behind someone slow your undercut will mean nothing.
Unfortunately with that idiot Magnussen's red flag, that was all taken away.
Normally the front guys will push to the limit to try and open gaps to counter undercuts or to open pit windows, but that was all gone, no more stops, manage tires and gaps.
If you cannot enjoy a Monaco race with the history, the technical strategies and nostalgia, then you not a true F1 fan.

I appreciate the strategy and what a pit stop can do to this race, but with the Red Flag that was taken away, and that makes it the most boring race in a while. I don't really get the history and nostalgia and merit that this race track is here, every year we just hope for at least a semi decent race at Monaco, but personally I think it should be taken off the calendar, or they should add sprinklers to the track to spice it up.

I get that it has a lot of history and prestige, but can't they just have a sponsor weekend and stop pretending that there is a race on while they are wooing sponsors.

It it the pinnacle of motorsport supposedly, but you never hear rally drivers go "Oh maybe I should slow down a bit to ensure the guys behind us don't fall to far behind", it is super annoying that its a race of who can make the tires last the longest, rather than who can go the fastest. In a normal race I can appreciate the strategies and applauded Ocon for making the hards lasting one whole race when he did that, but for Monaco where the mediums can do the whole race, that strategy talk means almost nothing

They should scrap Monaco. It's a snooze fest every time. Or if they want to keep it, there needs to be something done to make it more interesting to tune into
I nearly fell off my chair laughing, when the caption came up to vote for overtake of the day around about lap 15.

But we have had many other tracks that a once of incident or weather made a race boring. Things like this happened. Even with that, like I said, the qualifying, the history and nostalgia and Charles winning with the podium celebrations still made this great entertainment.
I bet if Hamilton or Norris won we would have heard what a great race weekend it was.

If a team comes to Monaco and puts the car on pole then that team/driver should be celebrated.

I also don't like the typical Monaco race, it is boring but I do appreciate the spectacle that is Monaco along with the rich history etc.

Many other normal circuit races can be just as boring on any given day. Nature of the sport sometimes.

Monaco will always be Monaco. Even in the 90's and early 00's, when the cars were tiny compared to what they are now, the race was a procession. Even in an infinitely superior car, you just cannot overtake without taking a massive risk. Just ask Nigel Mansell.

Monaco is history and tradition and the drivers love it. It is never going away.

In my eye, Monaco has history and prestige and spectacle.

What it doesn't have is racing. The drivers love driving it, I'm sure being a spectator there is probably quite an experience. But for the average viewer, races like this are mundane and uninteresting. If not for Magnussen and Ocon there would be nothing to watch for 78 laps.

Kudos to Charles and I think we're all pretty stoked he won. But let's not pretend history or prestige in any way made this a good race. The race itself was terrible, because it wasn't a race.

Love this F1 photographer's videos. Pure quality and informative. he even seem to have a lot of inside info. Like Sainz busy with dealing with Williams.
He also have at most races a video just on what fancy cars the drivers arrive at the track.
There is also a website where you can see and buy all his great photos.

If it was the exact same race with either of them winning it would have been the same result. If Norris won from 4th, that would have been an achievement.

I am very happy for Charles though, must have been hard dealing with the pressure of the curse of Monaco, but now we can resume regular broadcasting. This win of Charles though made the championship fight quite a bit closer, would be great if Fred could get the team to put them in a position to capitalize on this position
