if we look at the performance of Perez, you have to admit he is signed for a reason other than his ability.
if they wanted the best Driver they would have signed Sainz. or promoted Yuki.

Perez is in that seat for his "marketability" or because of the blackmail he has on the team. its impossible to know if it is blackmail or the money he brings in.
it is clear that it is not for his ability. at least he out qualified Sergeant this weekend....

How many times have we heard this?
Max is in the lead. He can manage his tires, his engine and the gap just to stay safe. No need for anything bigger than a 1.5s gap. Why take chances?
If the race was 10 more laps the gap would have been the same.

yeah the gap never dropped too much ...max managed his end race very well

from lap 55 it was like 5s ..max allowed the gap to drop to 2.5s but wasnt under any pressure in that last 15 laps or so of the race

My 2c here is that RB got the recipe worked out when it comes to Max, the car and the strategy (and it works). I get the idea Perez just doesnt fit into that puzzle comfortably at the moment.

The question in my mind is how much can RB adapt (and how far are they willing to go) to make things more suited to Perez. Having Max win is one thing but they still need to focus on the constructor standings as well.

Lewis finished 17.79s behind Max so no, definitely not the Merc. The McLaren is there or thereabouts depending on the track.

I agree Max is driving like a champ, but don't discount the car, it's still overall probably the best, track dependent. Perez is just bad right now. Or at least, not good enough for it to make much sense for them to resign him for 2 years.

Lewis finished 43s ahead of Perez, and George 37s. So maybe the Merc is faster. Possibly the Ferrari too.

With all the position changes and overtakes and different tyre choices and shitty strategy and slow pit stops and whining radio calls they still managed to finish where they started, that says a lot about F1 (Max was always going to win even if he started 2nd on the grid).

That's indicative of Perez's poor form, not the pace of the Mercs.
Well, your underlying assumption requires that answer. Sometimes it is good to challenge our assumptions.

Look at Sergio's last few races - practice sessions, quali and the races themselves. If it's only his form than he has been pretty consistent in his poor form, which simply doesn't make sense. You'd expect at least the odd good lap here and there. But his consistency tells me it's more than just bad driving.

Not saying Perez is blameless for his current run and I'm not saying he should or shouldn't be sacked by Red Bull, but it seems we tend to forget that every driver who has sat in the car alongside Max has struggled. That team is clearly built around Max. Sure, Perez can be dropped, but who's to say that the driver that takes his seat will be any more successful.

Red Bull wouldn't have made this decision after a few pints down at the local watering hole, would have assessed all options and decided that Checo is still the one to back.

but even if other drivers are poor RB cant rely on max alone to get the constructors ...especially this year with all 3 other teams getting consistent points in the top 7 atleast

I see British mafia still in control of F1.
Norris push Max of track onto grass at start, no penalty.
Hamilton is behind Sainz into corner, too fast for corner and push Sainz of the track. No penalty.

I haven't seen the replays, who was ahead after Turn 1?

The rule is to leave a car's width if the other car is alongside/at least front wing by mid-length, so perhaps CS is right to complain?

LOl please enlighten us about what blackmail this is. Pretty please. I bet we can write a DTS season X from that,

That's how it goes in Formula 1. Your car is super-important, but I think when you're an exceptional driver like of course Lewis is as well, you make a difference over your team-mate…

Yet for a Ferrari fan, you spend more time talking about Max and Hamilton than Ferrari...
