You all forgetting that Piastri was hot property and was basically "stolen" from Alphine. So I am sure he has a pretty good contract in favor of all he wants in his interest.

ok so what open seats are there left for next year?

Merc is full GR and Kimi
RedBull is full Max and checo (officially signed but who knows)
Ferrari is full charles and LH
Mclaren is full Lando and Oscar
Aston is full Lance and Fernando
Williams is full CArlos and Alex
Alpine is full Pierre and Doohan
Hass is full, Bearman and Ocon.

vcarb is full Tsunoda and Lawson/checko/Ricardo but only Tsunoda is officially signed.
Sauber has 1 seat Hulk is confirmed.

so that leaves 2 seats technically.
Sauber has the German Driver that Audi want, so they could do a rookie.

Drivers not signed:
Bottas, Zhou, Lawson, Riccardo, Mic, Sargant (lol) Kmag (even bigger lol somehow), Collopinto
plus a decent amount of talent in the F2 season.
I mean how much would it suck to win F2 this year not get a seat in F1 and have 2 drivers that are not really challanging get signed.

for me ideal would be collepinto gets the Sauber seat, and Lawson gets Riccardo's seat.

I see the rags are suggesting it'll be a shootout between Russell and Antonelli next year with Verstappen in their sights for 2026. LOL.
I predict Antonelli and Verstappen will have a few epic battles next year. Verstappen will be racing a younger version of himself and we haven't seen that yet, and I think he might be quite surprised by the youngster.
I don't think Verstappen will contemplate moving to Merc unless Red Bull somehow gives him a worse car making him drop out of the top 10.

Merc is developing nicely and could be in the running next year.
but as much as I rate kimi I dont see him fighting at the front right from the start.
maybe from the 3rd race on he will be in play, but If Merc is the top car for next year its russel's only shot at a title. and fighting with the ferrari's will be tough

Maybe Bortaletto to Audi/Sauber? That drive on Sunday was something else....
I can see Lawson getting a drive for VCARB, Danny Ric to Red Bull.
Colapinto can be Williams reserve in case someone's appendix decides to bust again lol

I kind of feel sorry for Mick Schumacher. Although I don't think he will ever be a F1 great, I think he is better than many on the current grid.
He had a bad deal in an bad environment at Haas. And is now basically nowhere and nobody giving him a chance. Would have been great if Williams gave him that seat for the rest of the year to show if he has it or not.

Antonelli will end up being a massive disappointment...

I thought Mick might've ended up at Williams for a season but it wasn't to be. He really didn't do much with his time at Haas despite others who have done way more with the turd of a car and team. Maybe he lands Audi - time will tell.

because they signed hulk I dont see Mic getting that seat, unless Audi want two german Drivers....

Based on the raw speed we saw in FP1, I don't think so. We all remember how Max used to crash all the time, but the raw speed was there - similar story here.

But he needs to be managed carefully, otherwise the pressure and expectations will destroy him.

He really should have gone to Williams for at least one season to acclimatise to F1.

he has so much hype around him, that the bar is super high for him.
basically if he finishes second in the constructors 1 point behind Lewis people will say it was a disappointing season.

personally I am going to try and keep an open mind, compare him to George and only to George, team mate is the only person you can really compare to with a rookie.

same with Lewis at Ferrari, compare to Charles and no one else. its the only fair place to compare them

My view is either the kid is going to impress or go bowling like Max did for a bit and then time will tell.
He doesn't stand out in F3 and F2 like Piastri did. Piastri was hyped for a reason, Antonelli isn't. Hope I'm wrong about him...

Ideally it should've been him in that Williams for the rest of the season. Not sure if an entire season was necessary but time will tell.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were Mick but I wouldn't bet on it. It would be an interesting pairing.
solid logic.
I think they will keep Bottas, because I dont think he is ready to retire yet.

but if they dont sign Bottas, then I think he will take reserve driver roll at Merc and hope to replace Kimi half way though the season when they decide to send him down to F2 to gain more experience. Merc is not the same as RB

he does not yet have the superlicence points for this season. kimi will need a lot of Fp1 sessions and will have a minimum final result requirement in F2 in order to be able to race in F1 next year
