“Wherever your loyalties lie with that one (and yes, I agree, it was amazing entertainment), from a regulations point of view it was a **** show of biblical proportions, and regardless of what decision Charlie Whiting might have made in Michael Masi’s position there would have been far less controversy and embarrassment,” Steiner wrote.

“Oh, fok it. We all know what Charlie would have done. Had he been at the helm Lewis would now be an eight-time world champion.”

I don't think Max is going anywhere in the next 3 years tbh. As for Checo we'll shall wait and see. The curious part is why they replaced Ricciardo early with Liam - it could be that they're gauging Tsunoda vs Liam for Checo's seat or they favour Liam for that seat and need to get him race fit but who knows...

I think 2025 will be an exciting year for F1 and my view is that it'll be a minimum three way but possibly a four way fight.
max will stay till 26,

checo leaves, on his own terms (Instead of being fired),
Lawson comes into Vcarb and gets up to speed, maybe scores a point or two, then joins RBR next year
Vcarb has Yuki and Isak Hadjar comes into Vcarb to take over when Max vanishes

Max will stay as long as he's winning imho. Agree that lawson -> RBR is likely although Yuki might be a possibility if he can outperform Lawson solidly but he's been overlooked plenty.

As far as I was aware, Yuki is not in the frame for a RB seat which then begs the question, how long will he stay at VCARB for. His links to Honda has been one reason put forward as to his affiliation but with Red Bull (and I suppose, VCARB too) binning Honda to start using RBPT (Red Bull Power Trains) from 2026, that Honda link will break. Also, with VCARB now seemingly reverting back to a feeder team for Red Bull, he must surely be in danger of losing his seat because if VCARB DOES become a full fledged feeder team and Yuki not in line for a promotion, then why keep him.

Aston Martin has been mooted as a possible destination due to their impending link up with Honda but with Lance Stroll glued to the one car and Lawrence Stroll's desire to throw checkbooks at former champions, it is unlikely he will end up in the second car.

The thing is as Lawrence Stroll sells his stake in Aston Martin, the less guaranteed Lance gets to keep his seat. A lot of people think he may end up in WEC driving the Valkyrie. Maybe once they are serious contenders for the title and need two serious drivers? I think Yuki and Alonso would be preferred to Yuki and Stroll by Honda. I can't see that happening soon though.

with RBR having so many issues, I dont think Max will stay forever,
He will look at something else, WEC, maybe even rallying who knows. But he wont sit with a team that frustrates him and causes Jos to beat him for not winning

Yuki leaves when the Honda badge leaves the Red Bull / VCarb cars and is replaced by a Ford badge. Next year will be Yuki's last year as a Red Bull group driver.

Yeah I agree. I can see him ending up at Aston as a reserve driver perhaps due to the Honda partnership. I think Vcarb will field two young F2 drivers in 2026 with Lawson moving up to RB in 2026 to partner whoever.

Sad really as imho F1 needs more engine manufacturers.
Current:
- Honda/RBPT
- Mercedes
- Ferrari
- Renault

2026:
- Ford/RBPT
- Mercedes
- Ferrari
- Honda
- Audi

Still a net gain in engine manufacturers

If Andretti buys the Alpine F1 team then you could add Cadillac, which would be neat. Cadillac is doing quite well in WEC

Does engines really differ much these days? They all seem pretty equal under the regulations. Aero much more important.

Combination of both just like drivers and cars.
As far as I know the engines stayed the same the last 3 years, nobody changed.
Aston was fast, now they slow
RB was fast now they slow
Mclaren was slow, now they fast
Merc was always slow with same engine as now fast Mclaren.

So does the engines make difference or aero?

Alpine is behind with both aero and engine. They have the weakest engine.

When it comes to Ferarri vs Merc vs Honda engines, they actually have different characteristics on how they perform on the electronic motor side. Honda has a bit of an edge. Ferarri however with their gearbox have ever so slightly better acceleration, unnoticeable to most humans but visible in the metrics.

Hell, trying to get into F1 and use your own engine at the same time. 2026 might be a crazy year for Audi.
