So according to our new rules/precedent. You can now come from way behind and late brake on the outside to barely come in front at the apex by a whisker. Then the driver on the inside, who makes the corner will get a penalty for forcing the other driver off the track who late braked from way behind and came into the corner way to fast.

Russell: "19 out of 20" drivers aligned on F1 racing guideline changes

I wonder who the 20th is?

So was George speaking about himself from Austin?:ROFL:

The problem is not the drivers, the problem is the track design.. imagine like the old days the white and green colours here were sand or grass, then the drivers wouldn't go around the outside like that because they know they would end up in the gravel trap. Nowadays you might as well give it a try because if the inside guy squeezes you a bit much then he is the one who gets the penalty and you are in zero danger..

It's dumb

I thought you liked rules.

Last week: rules r rulez
This week: whine whine whine

Would have thought a Ferrari Fan would be talking more about moving up to 2nd in the constructors.

Can already see next year's posts, everything that goes wrong with Charles will be Hamilton's fault, but it will mostly be more jerking off Max...

Haai Mike.
Only whining I have seen on this thread for the past 2 weeks was from you, Must I quote all your whining posts?

I like the Alonso quote about leaving space and it's my general yardstick when evaluating overtaking incidents. It signifies that the person overtaking has judged his attempt to pass correctly when both drivers have space to contest the corner.

If the defending driver has to consider backing off to avoid a crash or has to take evasive action, that's not an overtake.

well then no overtakes would likely ever happen during a corner... somewhere along the line the driver being overtaken has to take some sort of evasive action <-- this is how overtakes work, you have to push the other guy, get your arms out so to speak.

it's wheel to wheel racing, not run away from my wheel racing

I dunno hey, Russell and Hamilton managed to have a decent battle and leave eachother space. Likewise Piastri vs Norris in Monza -- Piastri didn't run Norris off the road. Verstappen and Leclerc also seem to keep things respectful.

Its very possible to have tight racing without running eachother off into the shrubbery.

"All the time you must leave a space!" is such a great Alonso quote

The only sensible thing to happen is for Perez to get sacked, Sainz to get out of his Williams contract and replace Perez at Red Bull and Colapinto to get the Williams seat fulltime. Perez and his Carlos Slim money would probably be welcomed at Sauber/Audi.

I do not see Red Bull going for Colapinto because they have Liam Lawson and Isak Hadjar to evaluate/accommodate.

EDIT: Of interest is Santander. Their sponsorship of Ferrari concludes at the end of the season, and it is rumoured to have been worth 45 million pounds per season. Santander has had a track record of following Spanish drivers. It entered the sport in 2007 as a sponsor of McLaren when Alonso moved there, then later sponsored Ferrari when Alonso was with them. They left the sport and returned to Ferrari again and remained with the team during Sainz's spell. Not out of the realm of possibility that Santander could get Sainz out of his Williams contract and then sponsor Red Bull.

Wow I'd love to see Colapinto in that Williams seat full-time, what a great year 2025 would be then. Sainz in a Red Bull as well, amazing.

Sainz is probably the best #2 driver on the grid. He's never going to win a WDC, but he's going to more or less put the car where it belongs. Rubens Barrichello-esque.

Reporter: "So next time, now that those penalties were given, will you do anything different on the track?"

Max: "Maybe I'll get a drink at the pit stop"

🤣🤣🤣🤣
