The FIA fired Massi for such a bad call and for handling it so badly.

If 20 cars or however many it was were ready, there would be no restart - they should have finished behind the SC. The rules are pretty clear on that - once the "lapped cars may overtake" message is sent out, the SC returns to the pit at the end of the following lap. Massi totally gyppo'd that rule. The backmarkers unlapping themselves was a bit of creative interpretation of the "any backmarkers can unlap themselves" which Massi decided it could mean only 5 - and not all... (and resulted in updating the rules) but regardless of that, the SC can only come in a lap after that event anyway, which means finishing the race behind the SC AS PER THE REGS.

They managed quite successfully to follow those regs in Monza 2022 where they finished the race behind the SC as the rules dictate. The trouble with letting the race director make up the rules as he pleases is it opens the system up to bias and means that strategy can be negated by the race director. Teams need consistency in the rules to know how to react in situations. What are the point of rules and a rule book if you have to look to the race director for them at every race?

It was more than controversial, they bent the rules. Hamilton would have won had 1) Latifi not crashed 2) Massi not gyppo'd the SC rules.

you seem to have deliberately omitted the most important part of the rules & regulations??? how ironic :

The race director has the authority to decide whether to allow lapped cars to unlap themselves. According to FIA regulations, this can vary depending on the circumstances.

Why didn't you add this part in, this is what Masi did? stop trying to skew the rules and leave out half the story, that's disingenuous.
And once again, if Masi didn't implement the rules correctly they would have been overturned after the race <-- which they weren't dah.

Bwahahahahhaha. Tell me you don’t know how appeals work.

@Wrath of Khan MD

“”Mercedes claimed that Car 33 overtook Car 44 during the Safety Car period at 1832hrs, in breach of Article 48.8 of the 2021 Formula One Sporting Regulations.”

“The Stewards determine that although Car 33 did at one stage, for a very short period of time, move slightly in front of Car 44, at a time when both cars where accelerating and braking, it moved back behind Car 44 and it was not in front when the Safety Car period ended (i.e. at the line).”

Defend.

It’s already confirmed. Will be interesting to see if he goes from hero to zero alongside Max.

This is such a horrible move my Red Bull. Lawson did everything right and gets skipped.

Red Bull used to be ruthless with their juniors, now their ignoring the programme completely. That's a great way to discourage new young drivers from joining you.

and there you have it, a person who refuses to agree to the rules & regulations as set out by the FIA because it doesn't benefit them

just remind the world, in the review of this case with lawyers / FIA / teams / you etc, was the result overturned? because it would have been if any rules were broken or not correctly applied within the framework of said rules / regulations. The rules stated the race director has the final say under the safety car and as such the case was thrown out, Mercedes knew that and as such gave up.

you'd be hopeless in a court room because you wouldn't agree with what any judge says.

it's been 4 years...you need to get over it

I already covered your argument in #8461.

If the stewards are tripping over themselves arguing semantics and partially applying regulations there’s no review of how they comprehend words you’re being totally disingenuous as they’re ruling on their own decisions.

As for getting over it did you miss the part where I said it is what it is?

There’s no court in the world that would interpret a clause in a contract that the word “any” as written could be interpreted to mean it doesn’t mean all.

"The blond" has been on commentary for the whole season so far
OK, I don't have F1TV so this is the first time I have seen her, and as she is not listed on F1.com as part of the cometnery team so I assumed she was new.
