In August last year it was reported that the change for their 2025 car was to due to porpoising issues.

I wonder if this is contributing to the plank wear issues this year.

I doubt it. I think it was just a result of very limited testing (only 1 FP session) due to the sprint weekend. Lack of experience with the new car. Australia didn't give them anything to go on due to the weather.
