If not in Suzuka, expect him to crash a few times elsewhere. He crashed a few times in 2024 with the easier Vcarb, so it is realistic to think he will put the RB into the wall somewhere.

I really don't get all the hate for the Lawson move. One of the main reasons RB has two teams is so they can move young non performing drivers to the other team so they can help them find their form and confidence again.

Lawson literally couldn't get a single point in car that should do at least 5th place. This isn't a few small screwups he is totally failing. Had he been in another team they would be seriously discussing getting rid of him if he didn't snap out of it within another race or 2 and his career would be in the toilet.

Two reasons here.
1. Red Bull have for a long time been criticised for the way they have handled their junior drivers. Impatient, ruthless. The Lawson demotion after two races has just highlighted this in its most extreme manner.
2. Tsunoda should have gotten the seat in the first place. I myself made the comment in the 2024 thread that feeding Lawson to Max so early may not be the best of ideas in terms of his development, and giving the seat to Tsunoda, who had no pressure on him anymore as he was leaving the Red Bull & Honda stables after 2025, made more sense. The pattern was there; Kvyat, Gasly and Albon, the Red Bull juniors, all got eaten alive by Max but experienced drivers like Danny Ric and Perez (his first 3 seasons) could perform close to his level and help the team.

Having had 2 full races as a new full-time driver is not remotely equivalent to dropping a driver mid-season. It seems it's common knowledge it's not just his performance but sponsorship pressure and said sponsor requiring a Japanese GP debut at RB.

In addition to this, Japan is Yuki's home race so I do understand why Honda pushed for it to happen now rather than later. Its unfortunate timing for Lawson, but it is what it is.

I think Yuki will at least score some points in that car instead of running around the bottom 5 places of the field. Now that I know he also likes a pointy car with a slidy rear thanks to his karting days, I think he has the skillset to do this. He'll provide some good feedback to the engineers.

I hope Lawson takes this opportunity to refine his skills at VCARB, he didn't deserve to be mistreated like that. Just knock out some good consistent results to rebuild that confidence.

It's not just about liking a pointy car, he needs to be able to react quick enough to what that pointy car is doing, i.e balancing it on the limits of adhesion through the corner,. Schumacher did this and so does Verstappen, if the back starts sliding around all he'll be doing is losing time like Checo. Yuki has shown in the past he has pretty good reflexes so hopefully he can tame that Redbull.

Its amazing that you have missed that most drivers have to leave Red Bull in order to further their careers....

He also misses the pattern...

When you can ring off a list of names of drivers who Red Bull dropped midseason, something is probably not working as well as it could be.
 
in the past 10 years, how many drivers have been changed mid season?

and when you remove the redbull and Vcarb drivers, what does that list look like then?

If you go past 50 years I don't think, with the exception of Renault (Trulli and Piquet Jr), any team has dropped more than a single driver mid-season. RB teams probably close to a dozen now...

Red Bull only joined F1 in 2005
So in 20 years they have:
Had 5 different drivers that can say they won an F1 race.
2 Drivers that are world champions
6 Constructors championships
8 Drivers championships.

How did the big guns like Honda. Toyota, BMW do?
How did the other big players do the last 20 years. like Williams, Mclaren, Ferrari?

Seems to me they know what they doing.

Seems like Max and Vettel knew what they were doing.
