I shamefully admit to liking that...

You now talking about two drivers that both was put in a seat mid season by Red Bull replacing underperforming drivers?
LOL I rest my case.
You seem completely incapable of understanding basic concepts. It's amazing.

The initial discussion was about Yuki firstly not getting the seat he deserved and secondly coming in to replace Lawson who only got two races, the first of which was a track he's never raced in horrendous conditions with limited testing and the second of which was a t a track he hasn't raced in 8 years. Pulling him after two races is nuts and it NOT the scenario either Max or Vettel faced.

So I don't know which case you're resting exactly. My assumption is it's a Hello Kitty backpack.

Historically, RB has had Max, Vettel, Newey and Hannah Schmidt who have all been excellent. Their pit crew is fantastic. And I'll throw GP in there as well.

Beyond that, it's been mediocrity.

Here goes the drama queen again.
The discussion was never about Yuki, it was about Red Bull dropping Lawson
And Australia only the race was wet. There was practice and qualifying and Lawson was 1.5s of his teammate's pace in the dry.
He drove the car last year and this year in testing. Unlike other rookies he also drove a few races last year.
China he was again 1s of his teammate's pace in the dry.

Lets not forget. British media(Ted Kravitz) humiliated the young rookie live on tv asking CH if they have a Lawson problem.
The young man was clearly broken when he was interviewed after the Chinese race.
Red Bull stepped in and probably saved his career and his dignity by putting him back in the smaller team with less pressure and less media attention.

Nah. Only drama queen is you with the lifetime DTS subscription. The conversation was about RBs hiring policies, which includes both Yuki and Lawson (and a plethora of other drivers).

He had limited running in all testing and was not fast enough. However, 2 race weekends is simply not enough time to ascertain whether or not he has what it takes. Simple, no need for discussion pure facts. 100% pure.

I don't think humiliating the man by removing him after 2 races is saving his dignity. Also, Kravitz didn't humiliate Lawson, he humiliated the adulterer and the old racist. The point was about how kak the car absolutely and obviously is. It's the talk of the town. Absolute shitbox. Max's prodigious talent is the only thing making that jaloppie look even vaguely passable as an F1 car. Pure trash.

I'd be curious to know if Yuki has a similar performance to Lawson if he'll get dropped and replaced at Saudi Arabia/Miami and what the reaction would be then... I mean RB should at least be consistent if that's how they're running things...

Yea I suppose he gets his 2 races, then Hadjar is up next. Do they go back to Perez then, or do they take one of the reserve drivers? I guess they have many options which is nice, everyone gets a chance to be demoted to Red Bull.

You see there goes the woke snowflake again. Adulterer, racists.
You a drama queen.

I hope Yuki doesn't replicate the last 2 races of Lawson else it would be awkward for RB especially if Lawson does well. This is such a mess - they're both arguably deserving yet the handling of this/conduct of RB stinks.

The Red Bull environment itself could only be conducive to a certain type of personality.

Back in the day, this would have been Williams, where bosses like Sir Frank and Patrick Head meant you needed to be made of stern stuff.

If Red Bull is indeed ''take no prisoners'', I think Tsunoda has the temperament to handle it. He is very sure of himself and has some bite to his character.

in the past 10 years, how many drivers have been changed mid season?

and when you remove the redbull and Vcarb drivers, what does that list look like then?

I have free time at work...
* Below list ignores changes because of injury, illness, suspension or other commitments, such as all the Covid shenanigans in 2020-2022, Sainz's surgery and Magnussen's suspension last year and Alonso going AWOL to run the Indy 500.

  • 2015: One driver change - Marussia rotated Roberto Merhi and Alexander Rossi in their second car for the last 7 races.
  • 2016: Two driver changes - Manor dropped Rio Haryanto for Estaban Ocon mid-season and Red Bull done the Verstappen-Kvyat swap earlier in the season.
  • 2017: Three driver changes - Musical chairs at Toro Rosso. Sainz left for Renault (replacing Jolyon Palmer) and Brendan Hartley replaced him. In the other car, Kvyat and Gasly rotated seat time for the last 6 races.
  • 2018: No changes
  • 2019: One driver change - Red Bull done the Gasly-Albon swap mid-season, demoting Gasly to Toro Rosso and promoting Albon to RB.
  • 2020: No changes
  • 2021: No changes
  • 2022: No changes
  • 2023: One driver change - Alpha Tauri replaced Nyck de Vries with Danny Ric. I won't include Lawson then replacing Danny Ric while he was injured as that was forced.
  • 2024: Three changes - VCARB replaced Danny Ric with Liam Lawson; Williams replaced Logan Sargeant with Franco Colapinto and Alpine replaced Ocon with Jack Doohan for the final round. Bearman replacing Sainz (surgery) and Magnussen (suspension) doesn't count.
  • 2025: One change so far - Tsunoda-Lawson swap.
23 drivers moved around in unforced changes; 14 of them being Red Bull drivers. Over half of all driver swaps involved a Red Bull team.
