Red Bull fell to third in the WCC because the guy in the second car was useless.

Yuki beat Liam, he should be in that car on merit, and he appears to have the attitude required to survive the pressures of being Max's teammate.

He is also more experienced, and RB have a recent pattern of destroying their junior drivers by feeding them to Max too early.
Do you think Yuki is a future WC?

TBH I don't see Lawson as a future WC either. He's no Piastri.

And if they were just looking for a second driver to partner Max, it would have been fair to give the guy who served his time the first shot. If it didn't work out, they could have swapped him for Lawson. They've done it in the past.

The guy I actually feel for is Lawson. There's a chance he ends up being another Gasly/Albon, stuck at Vcarb until he can find someone willing to take him. Yuki is tied to Honda...

Lawson isn't a pussy, he quite happily tells other drivers to eff off, gets his arms out and has a go no matter what, he'll fit in fine in Formula 1 at RB and won't worry about Max at all, they'll probably be great friends.

You need to destroy your teammate, he's the only one you have to prove anything to.

Good for Hadjar, finally the top guys from Formula 2 coming into Formula 1, they both 100% deserved their seats, unlike....:ROFL:

PS: hopefully Merc tells Bottas to cut his hair and be normal again

Whoever will be Max's teammate will not last and possibly be career ending.
So you got Yuki who at this stage is the better driver, not really a future as nr 1 driver and Honda leaving RB. He should be the obvious choice. Lawson should stay at the other team till he has more experience and less pressure in that team. Yuki's inability to control his emotions is probably the only reason he did not get the seat. Red Bull probably does not want to sit with that possible drama in the team with the best driver.

As for Lawson future WC, nothing has indicated that. Looking and acting like you from Benoni does not make you fast.

There are not a single rookie from the last few years that looks promising. Max, Senna, Schumacher all had amazing moments of brilliance when they just joined in slow cars. None of the new rookies had done anything. Including Piastri

Yuki isn't a potential WC. Max has two years left and then who knows what he'll do. RB need to start thinking of life after Max.
Almost every driver on the grid is a potential WC in the right car. Jody Scheckter won. Jenson Button won. Nico Rosberg won.

I take it you weren't around in the 1980's?
Pretty much every race driver looked something like him back then
Not a chance. I don’t know of one driver from the 80s sporting a hockey mullet.

There is talk that Hadjar has a similar temperament as Yuki did in his earlier years. Should be interesting to see how they get along.

Lawson is far from being future WC material.
Its way too early to say that, he's still very new to F1.
Lawson's best strategy is simply to shadow Max. If he keeps up, great! Don't try to beat him though, that would just lead to trouble.
He can be team leader and fight for championships if Max leaves, but not before.

Valtteri Bottas is returning to the three-pointed star as reserve driver for 2025.

10 Grands Prix victories, 20 pole positions, 67 podiums, a key role in five consecutive Constructors' Championships make for a storied career.

"I'm happy to finally answer the question I've posed over the past month," said the Finn. "Returning home to the Mercedes family as Third Driver for 2025 is what's next and I couldn't be more pleased. I want to thank Toto, the team at Brackley, and everyone at the three-pointed star for welcoming me back with open arms.
