Looks like that rumor is correct. Think Franco was Alpine's preferred driver, but they couldn't reach a deal with Williams, for him to race the whole season with them. So Doohan was brought in till the Contract was finished, but to make it fair, give him 5 races, then switchg Doohan and Franco around, Doohan becomes reserve and Franco Becomes main
 

Chief Trackside Officer. The corporatisation of F1. I miss the old days.

Andy Shovlin has been in that position (although his title is Director of Trackside Engineering) at Mercedes for more than a decade. Suppose there is something to the role and what it entails.

Time will tell whether the role is right up Krack's alley
