This Lawson story is insane.
His performances have been terrible, but 2 races is way too soon to be replacing a driver. Give him half a season at least. There's no bet Tsunoda does any worse and he'll also just be a new driver in the car, with the same learning curve etc.

Can they let Tsunoda run a couple of FP sessions and see how he does?

Yeah to throw him out so early would be crazy.
Rather see what can be changed in the setup of the car to suit him

In fairness he did testing at the end of last year. IMHO RB once again are piling on the pressure prematurely and should respect their own decisions and give Lawson at least a quarter season before even having these types of conversations/decisions.

They should kick Verstappen out of FP1 for Japan, run both Yuki and Liam with the same tyres and fuel loads and see who's better.
Both drivers are familiar with the track so not an issue of either one needing to learn it first.

Checo was a seasoned driver, regularly scoring podiums until last year. Instead of looking at the car, they pinned it on Checo and blamed his confidence. Now they're blaming Lawson. When they move Yuki in there, they'll blame him too.
It really doesn't help having someone like Max pushing an average car beyond it's ability. Gives the team the impression that they have a competitive car, and it must be the other driver who's at fault...

Even the Doohan vs Colapinto debate gives Doohan 6 races to prove himself at Alpine, at the very least. Even that is not really fair, but at least its not 2 race weekends!
If Red Bull goes ahead with this swap it will reflect quite poorly on them.

To be fair I think most weren't against either getting that RB seat regardless of who they supported. Take the race-baiting elsewhere, thanks.

I recall saying he was schit last year, but never that he was a bad driver. I also defended him the previous year when everyone else was calling him rubbish, saying that bad drivers don't come second in the championship.
None of us have any insight into what's going on in the team. We can only go by what we see. What's more become clear after changing drivers, and Max himself struggling with the car, is they have a problem with their car. Changing drivers again is not going to change that, they need to acknowledge the real problem.
This is the thing with adults, they can change their view as new facts emerge. You can't hold people to what they said, based on what was known at the time. I wouldn't expect someone like you to understand...

I did not agree with Lawson over Tsunoda, but I do like Lawson.
if they swap Lawson for Tsunoda in Japan, and Lawson outscores Tsunoda what does that tell us?
each team has to have 2 FP1 sessions wiht a development driver per car this season.
unfortunately Yuki does not match that criteria so we cant compare yuki to Liam at susuka in the same car unless Max is not fit to race.
is it possibly in the team's best intrest to promote yuki, demote Max for one race and see how they all compare?
remove the Max factor, gain info Max gains info on what the racing buls car does.
I think that is the best way to get the information needed to improve the red bull.
wont compromise Max's season, gives everyone the best way forward.

That would be the logical thing to do. They have so much flexibility that other teams don't, but don't use it...

In the past if you are done with your F1 career join Ferrari (mostly still true). It’s becoming more clear that RB is now one of those, only they screw you over much, much earlier.

difference between Ferrari and Red bull is Ferrari is something drivers aspire to drive for.
since Max joined red bull, no driver truely wants that seat. a junior wants a redbull contract and to spend a few years at racing bulls and then to replace max when he leaves red bull. no one wants to be his team mate.

I'm curious how Seb fits into this picture... He's been out of the Red Bull scene for over a decade, and out of F1 for a few years now.
