Not boring but also not exciting. Lets say interesting. Many races I feel like falling asleep. At least this was interesting.

Geez what a Merc clown show. When do the British mafia start calling for Toto to go? I mean they are being beaten by teams with their engine for a long time.

How slow is Hamilton. 50s behind his teammate and half the race the top 3 was driving slow deliberately.

Great race for Hadjar, Lawson and Bearman.

Race within the rules then. He should have qualified higher and then there wouldn't have been issues. Blaming others for his own poor performance just shows weakness of character.

Didn't George's car breakdown, if so not much he could've done. He's always been relatively consistent.

I actually wondered why gasly pitted after bortoletto hit the wall... not that it even helped him.

Idk if I'd call Hamilton slow, he did the job the team asked him to do and then cruised to the finish because there was no point to push.

Yeah those guys had decent races, but that was down to team strategy more than anything else..... something Mercedes could learn from....oh and also Ferrari race engineers need remedial classes.

What job did the team ask him to do?

I'm not a fan but if I was in his shoes I would have done the same. They are there to race not play games.
Shows how **** the track actually is. He took a drive through penalty about what, 5 laps after the incident and in that time he'd pulled enough of a gap that he didn't even lose the place.
And yet he'd been unable to overtake even with such a speed difference.

I guess at this point the race is only there because of the parties. You'd think there is enough money to reclaim some of the ocean and add some overtaking spots.

I didn't see that as giving the middle finger.....that was a spoilt brat thinking fck the rules simply because he got frustrated.

Nothing to celebrate with that useless move.

Rules don’t get altered without starting a conversation.

This starts the conversation.

The conversation was already underway since the very first lap. George added nothing but embarrassing his team further, it just showed how the team messed up in front of everyone.

He got his penalty and his race was over. He didn't have an advantage in the end and he knew going in to that overtake his race was over.
I would rather focus on why drivers get into a position where they feel breaking the rules is better than the position they felt wasn't fair.

Exactly.

He broke the rules very intentionally to start a conversation, not to gain an advantage which is quite different.

Now you can be sure this stuff will be amended in the rules and not allowed going forward, which may not have happened otherwise.

It also made a notoriously boring race even more so.

And we don’t know Toto didn’t tell him to do it to make the point.

The embarrassment should have been with the teams using that strategy, whether legal or not.

Reclaim land in the harbour

I don’t know if that would add distance though as you would then cut out sections running alongside it at present.

They would have to go further north and in land.

But it will never happen.

Pathetic race, great result for McLaren but terrible for the fans with all the deliberate impeading and dirty tactics.
They did more harm than good to the reputation of the Monaco GP.
Next year run by normal rules but with a special clause that you can't touch the car during a Red Flag, apart from the driver getting out and back in. i.e. No Free Pitstop.

The fact that George pulled off a blatant foul and actually gained time despite a 20 second stop go penalty goes to prove how badly thought through the whole fisco was.

P.S. to say nothing of how convoluted Russel's thought process are  ;)

I disagree, the teams must and should exploit the rules to the letter of the law, this is no different than teams orders when one driver stands to gain advantage over rival team drivers. This has been the way of motor racing since it's inception.
