George was clearly being a dick behind the safety car, that much is 100% obvious by his radio call. He slammed on brakes so hard that Max locked his brake and smoke his front tyres.... then George comes on the radio in 1 second and says, "Max overtook me under the safety car!" <--- he is deliberately trying to force the stewards hands and get Max a penalty. If you couldn't see that then you're smoking meth with your mother.

Pathetic.
30psi. The question now should be why Max overtaking under SC wasn’t scrutinized…

— Alpine’s F1 operation is set for further upheaval after Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo announced his shock resignation, ending a transformative five-year tenure that included the rebranding of Renault’s works team.
— Renault confirmed on Sunday that de Meo would step down by 15 July after a 30-day notice period.
— In his official statement, de Meo said:
“There comes a time in one’s life when one knows the job is done. Today, the results speak for themselves: they are the best in our history. We have a strong team and an agile organisation. We also have a strategic plan ready for the next generation of products.”
“That is why I have decided it is time for me to hand over the baton. I am leaving a transformed company, poised for the future, to apply my experience to other sectors and embark on new adventures.”
— De Meo joined Renault in July 2020 and swiftly rebranded the Renault F1 team as Alpine, overseeing multiple leadership changes as the team dropped from fourth in 2022 to sixth in the constructors’ standings in following years.
— He was a major force behind Alpine’s decision to drop its in-house engine project and instead switch to Mercedes power units for 2026.
— De Meo also recruited Flavio Briatore as executive advisor in 2024 and was expected to approve Steve Nielsen’s return following Oliver Oakes’ departure last month.

BWT Alpine F1 Team

It's a marketing thing.

True on the marketing thing and team name. The constructor is still listed in FIA and F1 documents as Alpine Renault.

Pretty much only there. It's Alpine 99.9% of the time including commentary. No Renault branding on car, overalls etc.

The FIA did not specify what the 70-year-old Briton, who raced from 1981 to 1993, had said but media reports said Warwick had been quoted by a betting platform talking about the Spanish Grand Prix.
"After discussion Derek acknowledges that his comments were ill-advised in his role as an FIA steward and has apologised. Derek will resume his duties as a steward in the forthcoming Austrian Grand Prix."
what did he say?

Spoken like someone who knows he's getting axed, and DGAF

what did he say?
The reason for the suspension is down to Warwick giving an interview after the Spanish GP, as he commented on Verstappen’s clash with George Russell, where the Red Bull driver was given a 10-second penalty and three penalty points – putting him on the edge of a race ban.

Warwick made specific remarks about the verdict – of which he was not a part of as the FIA stewards panel was made up of David Domingo, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Matthew Selley and Nish Shetty in Barcelona.

“Should he have done what he did with George Russell in Turn 5? Absolutely not. Did he get a penalty for it? Yes,” Warwick said.

“Some people argue that Sebastian Vettel received a 10-second drive-through penalty in Baku when he deliberately drove into Lewis Hamilton. But if you look at the video of Max, it looks to me like he dived in but then turned away from George - the momentum just carried him into him.”

Warwick continued: “I’m not condoning it, I’m not saying it was right. It was absolutely wrong. The FIA rightly gave him a penalty. Should it have been harsher? I actually think they got it about right. Many would say he should have received a race ban as a deterrent for young karting drivers, and they’re probably right.”

The interview creates two key issues which is why the FIA has acted to suspend Warwick.

Firstly, Warwick, as an FIA steward, publicly commented on the judgment of other stewards which is problematic given it is one steward publicly critiquing the ruling of another steward and that is not in the FIA’s interest.

Secondly, the interview wasn’t published by a traditional media outlet, but by a PR agency, which contacts media outlets offering quotes from Warwick - on the condition that the source Plejmo, a gambling website, be credited in exchange for using the quotes.

A bit of lite entertainment:

F1 The Movie | World Premiere Red Carpet LIVE from New York
Stream starts at 3:47

Edit: I gave up after 20min.

I suspect most of the audio and lots of the video have been striped out for some reason and the result lacks continuity.
As it is now is a total waste of time.
