Kimi Antonelli could be loaned to Alpine for the F1 2026 season if Mercedes opt to pair Max Verstappen with George Russell: https://www.planetf1.com/news/george-russell-max-verstappen-mercedes-antonelli-alpine

"...A report by Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that Antonelli could find a ‘temporary home’ at the Alpine team if Mercedes opt to pair Verstappen and Russell.

Alpine will replace Aston Martin as Mercedes’ third customer team for F1 2026, joining reigning constructors’ champions McLaren and Williams, after parent company Renault opted to repurpose its historic engine facility.

It is said that Russell will not accept a one-year contract extension with Mercedes for F1 2026 with the four-time race winner insistent on a multi-year deal, raising the possibility of an exciting partnership with Verstappen.

The report adds that Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and Flavio Briatore, the Alpine executive adviser, were spotted in a meeting at the end of the race in Austria last month.

However, it is thought that any discussions about drivers were related to Valtteri Bottas, the Mercedes reserve driver who has been linked with a mid-season switch to Alpine as a potential replacement for Franco Colapinto. ..."

Kimi is the new Jenson Button?

Button was also loaned out to a Flavio Briatore team in order to make space for another driver.

He has no shame, and typical rich-parents child delusion. He's not even ashamed at all that he's only there 'cos daddy owns the team. His only value is in creating yellow & red flag moments on the track.
Look, he isn't the worst. His times are good, but many better drivers are waiting in the wings.

Eish, Max and George will be a small war. Both brilliant drivers in their prime.

Stroll is doing alright so far this season, he's coming 12th and he's beating Alonso.

SA officials to hold talks with F1

South Africa's Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture reveals that talks are to be held with F1 in the coming weeks in the hopes the sport returning to the country.

Only in May, F1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali appeared to dash hopes when he said that while there is intertest in hosting a race in South Africa there was no promise of the long-term financial stability required in order to draw up the necessary contract.

"We cannot go to a new place without staying for a long time," said the Italian, days after announcing that the sport will continue in Miami until 2041. "We are progressing our discussions with I would say three places in Africa," he added "Realistically speaking, I don't think we're going to have an outcome in the very short term."

However, speaking in parliament, South Africa's Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, appeared to hold out a lot more hope.

And as is it is in Belgium, at Spa-Francorchamps, it should be a great race.
That circuit always creates excitement even in its shortened, sanitised form.

It has essentially been the same layout since 1979. Outside of changes to the runoff in places, the only major change since '79 has been the addition of, and subsequent tweaking to the Bus Stop chicane, settling on what we have now in 2004, and then the reprofiling of turn 9 a couple of years.

The death-defying blast through the countryside with its roads lined by houses, telegraph poles and farmhouses hasn't been a thing for nearly 50-years.
