Fans get upset because a grid walk is the ultimate privilege for a fan and many believe it should be reserved for those who actually would appreciate it or at least have a basic understanding of the sport. Ignoring Brundle is almost a litmus test for whether they should or shouldn't be there.
Public opinion and people with money or celebrity aren't mutually exclusive.Money and connections are the only thing that reserve you any rights to a grid walk - nothing else. Sad but true, and any fan would know this by now - the sport has changed and is changing. Not much in F1 comes without one of those two things these days. Monaco takes it to another level.
