I wish they would standardise car numbers.

When it was 1 through 22 and based on where the teams finished in the Constructor's Championship?

Or the classic numbers? Tyrrell 3 & 4, Williams 5 & 6, McLaren 7 & 8, Lotus 11 & 12, Renault 15 & 16, Ligier 25 & 26, Ferrari 27 & 28?

Remember when ol Nige (I think it was) ran with the number 0 for one year.

No, size, colour and position on the cars.

Yesterday, there were cars without numbers.

That was Prost in 93 and Senna/Hil in 94.

Prost ran it in 93 because Nige had ''retired'' as champion at he end of 92, vacating his #1. Senna/Coulthard Hill ran it in 94 because Prost had retired as champion at the end of 93.

Hill drove the #0 Williams in 93 and 94.

He ran it in 93 because Nige had ''retired'' as champion at the end of 92, vacating his #1 and then he ran it again in 94 because Prost had retired as champion at the end of 93.

Nige was famous for the Red Five.

Ah yes, that was the reason.

Corrected my post; Hill drove the #0 Williams in 1993 in 1994. Prost (93) and Senna/Coulthard/Mansell (94) drove the #2 Williams.

Fun fact: When Mansell returned to drive for Williams in 1994, he became the first reigning champion to not carry #1 since numbers were standardised in 1974. The next time this would happen would be Hamilton retaining his #44 in 2015.

Are these guys only running 1 car at time ?? Is there a reason for that?

Rules of testing I guess (probably cost and logistics based). Only bring one car and split the duties between the drivers over the three days. Each driver effectively gets a day and a half at the wheel.
