F1 2026

Well, well, well.

I said exactly this earlier in the thread and someone told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Now you have two of the GOATS with 11 world titles between them calling the new regs out.

These regs are fvcking stupid. Go back to V8s. Run them on eco-fuel. Leave hybrids to WEC (massive manufacturer involvement there already) and full electric to Formula E.

F1 is losing its identity and all these gimmicks to try and improve racing are leading to a Mario Kart situation.

So, Renault just announced that they are withdrawing Dacia from Rally Raid with immediate effect and will not be defending their Dakar title in 2027 (they only entered in 2025, won it in 2026 and are now leaving), and they also announced that this will be Alpine's last year in WEC.

They made this announcement yesterday, stating that it is to focus on F1, but seeing as they also just canned their own engine program, I am not really sure about their long-term position in the sport. Keeping Alpine in F1 doesn't even make sense anymore. Supposedly their performance division but they don't even use their own engines in F1 now, so what is the point really.

Much bigger pie they have a piece of and withdrawing would be a fools move so they at least have to deliver a car that’s midfield or better so I’m guessing that’s where the effort and skill focus will be. Should’ve kept the engine. Not to forget there’s some French pride there too.

Their participation is now little more than a very expensive marketing campaign. Very little of what they are doing in F1 will filter through to their road/production divisions without an engine program.

If they do find success, it will be with another manufacturer's engines.

Let's be honest, watching the cars do practice starts is a complete and utter jaw dropping moment... they are disgusting.

Like that other person said, it's like a hair clipper. This is not formula E ffs, this is Formula 1 <-- 1 = the best.

I'm now starting to think 2026 will be like, WTF is going on with Formula 1. This is what happens when you allow Greta and any women with purple and pink hair & nose rings to enter any workplace!:mad::sick::sick::sick:

The 2026 Formula 1 cars will reach 400 km/h on the straights. Ocon reached 355 km/h

In 2025, F1 cars continue to reach peak speeds exceeding 360 km/h (approx. 224-225 mph) at low-drag, high-speed tracks like Monza, Baku, and the Red Bull Ring. While the ultimate record remains 378 km/h

these new cars are so fcked, have no idea who to vote for just saying

obvious freak MAX is hacking already but he hate it

So basically like most teams?

Meanwhile…

Mercedes - Builds F1 engines, builds road cars. F1 tech filters through.
Ferrari - Builds F1 engines, builds road cars. F1 tech filters through.
Honda - Builds F1 engines, builds road cars. F1 tech filters through.
Ford - Builds F1 engines, builds road cars. F1 tech filters through.
Audi - Builds F1 engines, builds road cars. F1 tech filters through.
Alpine (Renault) - ?

Even Cadillac is developing its own engines.

Aston Martin hasn't developed their own engines for their road cars in some time. Their engines have been Ford/Cosworth-based or directly sourced from AMG-Mercedes. They are really just a boutique chassis builder.
