FIA issue statements on commission and power unit meetings

Formula 1’s governing body, the FIA, have issued a pair of updates following meetings of the F1 Commission and the F1 Power Unit Advisory Committee on Wednesday.

In the F1 Commission gathering chaired by FIA Single-Seater Director Nikolas Tombazis and F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali, refinements to the 2026 F1 regulations were agreed and will now be referred to the World Motor Sport Council for approval.

There were also discussions around the possibility of increasing the number of Sprint events up to 12 given the demand from fans and promoters.

A formation lap / start sequence will be tested - with blue lights flashing for five-seconds once all cars are on the grid before the main start light sequence begins."

You're missing the concern. Teams are worried about turbo lag at the start, so they want time to get the turbo fired up while stationary (i.e. get the revs up before lights out).
 
The way things are going, not sure subscribing to F1TV this season is going to be worth it. Maybe switch to WEC instead.

People who hate others for being different often act out of fear, insecurity, or a deeply ingrained need for social conformity, rooted in "in-group/out-group" tribal behavior. Most people don't like change thats normal.
I must say the first few practice rounds have been about as exiting as watching scalextrics racing at the local model shop though.
Race days should get better though.

As someone that worked in the pits in the late 80's and early 90's at tracks around the country i can say that i miss the smell of racing fuel in the morning:giggle:.

Your timeline is way out. Everybody enjoyed the V8s up until their demise (2013). The hybrids were also negatively received in 2014, so what we are seeing now is nothing new. I still remember Merc trialing a ''trumpet'' exhaust to try and generate more noise.

Max Verstappen has said these cars are becoming glorified Formula E cars, so this isn't just an out of touch fan thing. One of the sport's greatest drivers isn't feeling it.

You can run an NA engine on sustainable fuels, which is exactly what F1 is moving towards anyway. V8 engines on biofuel/bioethanol. Reintroduce KERS or the MGU-H to use as push-to-pass if F1 has to have a ''gimmick'' to account for the lack of on-track action.
